Dallas is a Home Dog in NFL Sunday Night Football Game vs. Philadelphia
December 10, 2010
The Dallas Cowboys are home dogs in their NFL Sunday night football game versus the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 12th.
It appears that the love affair that football handicappers are having with Philly, because of QB Michael Vick, will continue even though the Eagles’ D has proven to be incredibly soft in recent weeks. 61% of football handicappers actually believe that the Eagles will cover the spread in their game versus the rival Cowboys on Sunday.

But it appears that the Cowboys have turned the corner in recent weeks and is no longer the NFC East kicking boys that they were to start the season. Will the Cowboys continue their cover parade in the sportsbook by blasting the Eagles in this Sunday night football game?

Philadelphia Eagles -3 ½ -110 O 50 ½ -110
Dallas Cowboys +3 ½ -110 U 50 ½ -110
The football betting trends favor both teams in this game.
- The Philadelphia Eagles are 5 and 1 ATS in their last 6 games in December.
- The Philadelphia Eagles are 4 and 1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the NFC.
- The Dallas Cowboys are 4 and 0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
- The Dallas Cowboys are 17 and 4 ATS in their last 21 games after allowing more than 250 yards passing in their in their previous game.
CB Asante Samuel should be back in this game. He could be the difference maker and the reason that football handicappers are jumping all over the Eagles in this matchup. I’m not so sure, however.
Samuel will be good enough to stop WR Miles Austin from having a big day, but the Cowboys also have WR Roy Williams. TE Jason Witten is questionable, but if he can play than QB Jon Kitna has yet another option to throw to.
The biggest problem facing the Eagles’ D, though, is the fact that Dallas has been awesome on the ground lately. The Cowboys ran for 144 yards against the New Orleans Saints’ stout rushing defense on Thanksgiving Day and then destroyed the Colts with 215 yards on the ground last Sunday.
But even if the Cowboys’ offense is playing well, it doesn’t mean that Dallas is going to cover the spread in this Sunday night football game. The Eagles’ offense, led by the amazing Michael Vick, is averaging 28.7 points per game.
It racks up an astounding 400.7 yards per game on average. The Eagles’ offense is probably the best in the league right now. Vick and Co. should have no issues putting up points against a Dallas Cowboys’ D that allows a startling 254.1 yards per game through the air and a ridiculous 28 points per game.
What should a football handicapper do in this situation when both offenses appear set to explode and both defenses appear vulnerable? Bet over the total, of course. That’s exactly what I’ll be doing.
To me, both teams are going to put up a ton of points in this. My Sunday night football bet when the Eagles take on the Cowboys is on the game going over the total of 50 ½ points.
