Daily NBA Betting Picks – Lakers Looking To Put Wizards In Their Place
December 15, 2010
The last time these two teams played, the Washington Wizards gave the Lakers all they could handle and nearly notched a massive upset in NBA betting picks.
The truth about the Lakers is that they haven’t been nearly as dominant as they were earlier in the season. In fact, they’re just 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games.

The Wizards could very well be responsible for their recent troubles. Flip Saunder’ crew lost 115-108 exactly a week ago after keeping pace with Kobe for three and a half quarters. The Lakers earned the victory, but haven’t exactly gone on to bigger and better things. They nearly lost to the Clippers, were buried by the Bulls and barely escaped New Jersey alive.
What hurts the Wizards’ chances in this game is John Wall’s health issues. His knee is swollen, and while the competitive nature of Wall will probably put him in this game for at least a few minutes, he’s not at 100-percent, which means the Wizards become a stay-away. He’s what makes this team good, and I don’t have the same confidence in guys like Arenas or Nick Young at this point.
Los Angeles Lakers (17-7) vs. Washington Wizards (6-16)

NBA Betting Line: Lakers -10.5 (203.5)
Let’s also keep in mind that the Wizards are just 1-4 SU and ATS when playing the Lakers at home in NBA betting picks. This team is a perimeter shooting team that relies on Young, Arenas and Wall to create their own chances. Andray Baltche is a key component to their success since he’s easily the team’s best rebounder. Second chances won’t come along for the Wizards until he’s back.
Considering how tightly the Lakers have been playing to the chest in the last week of NBA betting picks, they’re a very hard pill to swallow, especially with a big line to cover on the road. But hope is a fickle thing for a bad team like Washington. They fed off of all sorts of momentum when they visited the STAPLES Center a week ago. Kobe and Fisher won’t give them that luxury tonight.
Bet on the Lakers to put this game away early while Washington searches for any semblance of rhythm with Wall limping around the court. This is the time the Lakers break their rough streak in NBA betting picks so grab it while you can.

DETROIT PISTONS +4.5 over Atlanta Hawks
Believe it or not, but the Hawks have actually become a better team on the road than they are at home. At just 3-10 ATS when playing in the Dirty Dirty, Atlanta has gone 8-4 ATS on the road this season. They’ll have troubles keeping that record afloat considering they’re 1-4 ATS in their past 5 games on the road in Detroit and are just 1-9 SU when visiting the Palace at Auburn Hills. Detroit isn’t the easiest play to stomach, but it’s the smart one.
DENVER NUGGETS +2.0 over Orlando Magic
Nothing about this Magic team is making me excited. They’re 1-4 SU and ATS in their past 5 games, largely due to injury, but isn’t this team deep enough to survive that sort of thing? They’ll face Denver, which is enjoying the return of Carmelo Anthony, and are undefeated at 5-0 SU in their last 5 games. Ignore their 1-5-1 ATS record in the past 7 home games. With Melo back, the Nuggets should be respected at home in NBA betting picks.
