These are the two winningest teams over the past decade and their rivalry goes beyond just a win, as they have respect for each other. However, both franchises thinks they have the best quarterback in the last 10 years.
Recently a NFL Network made a Top 100 best player ever list and Peyton Manning came in at the 5th position and Tom Brady at the 20th. However, Brady has more rings than Manning (3 to 1), more Super Bowl appearances (4-2), more playoffs wins (14-4 to 9-9) and owns Manning in head-to-head matchups (7-4), so NFL betting fans, I wouldn’t be surprised if you take Brady over Manning. I know I would.
Last year, the Colts beat the Pats 35-34 after coach Bill Belichick decided to go on fourth down and two in their own territory in the fourth quarter. That play resulted in a turnover on downs and gave the ball to Manning at the 28-yard line to win the game.
However, much have changed since that game, as the Colts are all banged-up with the injuries of tight end Dallas Clark, wide receivers Austin Collie and Anthony Gonzalez, and running backs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart. Also, Brady and the Pats lost Randy Moss to a trade and so he is now playing with two rookie tight ends and Benjarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead as his running backs.
Despite that both teams won last weekend, the outcome of the games were different for both; the Colts beat the Bengals, but Manning was held without a touchdown pass for the second time this year, as he recorded a season low in passing yards (185) and completion percentage (55.6). The Pats, on the other hand, beat the Steelers at Pittsburgh as they did something that nobody has done all season, which is recording over 100 rushing yards and over 300 passing yards against the Steelers.
The trends say Indy is 0-2 as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points and 2-4 ATS against AFC East division opponents. The Pats are 5-0 ATS against AFC South division opponents and 4-1 ATS as a home favorite of 3.5 to 7 points.
Simmons´ pick: Take the Pats to cover.
