Colorado State Looks to Avoid 13th Straight Loss – College Football Picks
September 25, 2010
With so many games on any given Saturday it can get a little overwhelming trying to weed out the best College Football Picks, but that’s what we’re here for. One of the games that I really like is the Idaho Vandals taking on the Colorado State Rams. This being a battle of teams from lesser conferences, some people just overlook it because they don’t know much about these two teams, but this is a lock in your College Football Picks and I’ll tell you why.
Idaho Vandals vs. Colorado State Rams (Hughes Stadium – Fort Collins, CO)
Saturday September 25th at 4 PM ET
It’s been a long time since the Rams of Colorado State have been able to raise their hands after a game. In fact, they are on one of the longest losing streaks in the nation at the moment, with 12-straight loses. Only Eastern Michigan (15) and Western Kentucky (23) have lost more consecutive ball games. They haven’t won a football game since last year when they got past the Nevada Wolf Pack 35-20, and it doesn’t look like that College Football Picks streak will end Saturday as they take on a solid Idaho Vandals team.

College Football Spread:

Colorado State – PS +8 (-110) ML +270
Total – 50
Absolutely nothing is going right for Colorado State at the moment. They are dead last in the nation when it comes to scoring this year, managing just a measly 6.3 ppg. They nearly doubled their season output last week in a 31-10 loss to Miami-Ohio but that was following back-to-back defeats to Colorado and Nevada by 24-3 and 51-6 margins respectively.
Here are some College Football trends for this matchup:
- Vandals are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games.
- Vandals are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games in September.
- Vandals are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
- Rams are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss.
- Rams are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.
- Rams are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games.
Idaho hasn’t had a problem scoring the football this year as they are fresh off a 30-7 throttling of UNLV. They dismantled North Dakota 45-0 in their season opener before dropping game number two to the Cornhuskers of Nebraska by a 38-17 score, but that’s nothing to be ashamed about as Lincoln is a tough place to play.
This Vandals team isn’t flashy, they just put together solid team efforts and get it done. Last week against UNLV, they didn’t get much yardage out of Deonte Jackson who only picked up 21 rushing yards, but he punched in two touchdowns to help lead them to victory. Their quarterback, Nathan Enderle, was efficient, going 15-27 for 210 yards and a TD while their kicker, Trey Farquhar booted three big field goals, including one from 50-yards to early him the WAC Special Teams Player of the Week.
It’s that kind of effort that makes a team a winner, and Colorado State just doesn’t have that kind of chemistry yet, hence the dropping so many College Football Picks in a row. They are a long way from being good, which makes this a lock pick for Saturday on Idaho.
