College Hoops Game of the Night – (15) Kansas at (3) Oklahoma

February 23, 2009

The 15th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks (22-5 SU, 15-5-1 ATS, 9-12 O/U) have won three consecutive games in the BetOnline Sportsbook while going an impressive 2-0-1 ATS during the span.

The third-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (25-2 SU, 12-9-1 ATS, 13-7 O/U) had their 13-game winning streak snapped the last time they took the floor and are just 2-3 ATS in their last five contests.

Tonight, the Big 12 rivals will both look to pick up a win in the BetOnline Sportsbook when they battle at the Lloyd Noble Center tonight.

Kansas remained hot with its 70-53 win over Nebraska at Phog Allen Fieldhouse Saturday. The Jayhawks covered the spread as a 12-point home favorite while the final score played under the 128-point O/U total.

Junior point guard Sherron Collins scored a team-high 22 points to lead the Jayhawks to victory.

Oklahoma lost for just the second time this season on Saturday, falling to the Texas Longhorns 73-68 as a 1.5-point road underdog while the game’s 141 combined points went UNDER the posted O/U total of 142.5 points.

Freshman shooting guard Willie Warren scored a game-high 27 points and dished out six assists in a losing effort.

Here is a look at the key betting trends for each team, followed by my in-depth analysis and NCAA college basketball Free Picks.

  • Over 132½ -110
  • Under 132½ -110

Analysis: Maybe it’s me but I’m not real high on the Oklahoma Sooners, particularly without superstar forward Blake Griffin, the undisputed No. 1 selection in this summer’s NBA Draft.

While the Jayhawks aren’t the same team that won last season’s national championship, they have clearly gotten better as the season has progressed and should be able to cover the spread tonight despite being on the road.

I like the Jayhawks and the Over in this matchup NCAA college hoops bettors as griffin may sit out after sustaining a concussion in the Sooners’ loss to Texas.
