The first game on the College Hoops Betting schedule may be the most important of the weekend, when Villanova travels to Syracuse. With each team coming off a loss, neither wants to make it two in a row.
Starting with Syracuse, the Orange were humbled on Monday in their first loss of the year at Pittsburgh. Incredibly the Panthers jumped out to an 18 point lead, before the Orange battled back, eventually falling 74-66 at the always tough Peterson Events Center.
However, in the Orange’s defense, they were playing without their leading scorer Kris Joseph. The junior from Montreal missed the loss after suffering a concussion in last Saturday’s win over Cincinnati, and no one is sure if he’ll take the court here. He’s averaging over 14 points per game.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are hitting the road for their second tough game, after falling at UConn by two points on Monday. The game was a classic one, with the Wildcats tying the game up at 59 with under a minute to go, before the Huskies Kemba Walker hit the game-winner.
And truthfully, the key stat in that game will tell you everything you need to know about this College Hoops Betting matchup: Villanova was just 3 for 14 from downtown. Not only did it not do the job on Monday, but going up Syracuse, which ranks No. 10 in the country in 3-point shooting percentage defense (28 percent) it spells disaster.
Even without Joseph, the Orange will win this game comfortably.
NCAAB Bets Pick: Syracuse
No. 4 Pittsburgh (18-1 SU, 7-7 ATS) at DePaul Blue Demons (6-12 SU, 9-8 ATS)

With Syracuse and Villanova ranked in the Top 10- as crazy as this sounds- it is actually Pittsburgh which is probably the top team in the conference.
At least it appears that way after their dominating win over the Orange the other night. In the game, the Panthers got contributions from all over the board, with four starters scoring in double-figures. Forward Nasir Robinson had maybe the game of his life, scoring a season-high 21 points.
As for DePaul, well, things have been disastrous in coach Oliver Purnell’s first year in Chicago. Simply put, this team doesn’t have the talent to keep up in the mighty Big East. The Blue Demons are 0-6 in conference, with their most recent loss to Marquette on Wednesday coming by 30 points.
Anyway, coming into Saturday, we could sugarcoat things and give you a million different reasons why this game could be close. But we won’t.
Pittsburgh has better players, is better coached and is playing better than any team in the country right now. It’s not if they’ll cover the College Hoops Betting odds, but by how much on Saturday afternoon.
