College Hoops Betting Power Poll – ACC
January 12, 2009
1: Florida State Seminoles (7-3 ATS, 13-3 SU) (LW: 1) The Noles hit the backdoor for the ATS victory against the Dookies to open up ACC play last week. The 66-58 loss won’t help come March Madness time, but FSU continues to be one of the hottest teams for sports betting fans in the conference.
This Week: Away @ North Carolina State, Home vs. Maryland
2: North Carolina State Wolfpack (5-3-1 ATS, 9-4 SU) (LW: 4) The Wolfpack’s first ACC game of the year was a forgettable 63-51 loss at Littlejohn to Clemson. After losing back-to-back road games, NCSU returns to the RBC Center this week, where they’ve gone 3-2 ATS this season.
This Week: Home vs. Florida State, Home vs. Georgia Tech
3: Duke Blue Devils (8-6 ATS, 14-1 SU) (LW: 2) The three-game ATS winning streak for Duke is history after narrowly missing out on covers against both Davidson and Florida State last week. Both games were winnable for Duke bettors though, which still makes it a trendy selection to continue rolling through ACC play this season.
This Week: Away @ Georgia Tech, Home vs. Georgetown
4: Wake Forest Demon Deacons (6-4 ATS, 14-0 SU) (LW: 7) The Deacs are the big movers this week after becoming the second ACC team in as many weeks to upset North Carolina. They’ve covered three straight and five out of six, and will put those marks on the line this week with their first two road ACC tests of the season; Wake is 2-1 ATS on the road.
This Week: Away @ Boston College, Away @ Clemson
5: Boston College Eagles (7-5 ATS, 13-4 SU) (LW: 3) What a difference three days can make! After knocking off the Tar Heels last week, Boston College came home and lost 82-70 to Harvard, starting a two-game SU and ATS skid. The Eagles were 4-1 ATS at home before losing to Harvard and Miami, and they’ll hope to get back on the winning track when the undefeated Demon Deacons come to town.
This Week: Home vs. Wake Forest, Away @ Virginia Tech
6: Miami Hurricanes (5-4 ATS, 12-3 SU) (LW: 6) Though it wasn’t quite enough to cover against Florida Atlantic, the 85-69 win over the Owls was impressive. The Canes followed that up with a 77-71 win over Boston College to start ACC play and is now a perfect 3-0 ATS on the road this year. Will that trend continue this week in Chapel Hill?
This Week: Home vs. Maryland, Away @ North Carolina
7: Maryland Terrapins (4-3-2 ATS, 12-3 SU) (LW: 5) Maryland’s seven-game home stand ended with a pair of duds. In the middle of last week, the Terps lost 66-65 to Morgan State in a loss that could prove fatal to their NCAA Tournament hopes, but they followed that up with a 68-61 win against Georgia Tech that failed to cover the closing pointspread by a point. This week will be the first true road game of the season for the Turtles.
This Week: Away @ Miami, Away @ Florida State
8: Clemson Tigers (5-5-1 ATS, 16-0 SU) (LW:
The last three games have been pretty disastrous for Clemson bettors. Last week, the Tigers beat Alabama and NC State, but they haven’t covered a spread since December 30th and haven’t covered a spread at Littlejohn since November 19th.
This Week: Home vs. Wake Forest
And the rest…
9: Virginia Cavaliers (4-4 ATS, 7-6 SU) (LW: 12)
10: North Carolina Tar Heels (6-8 ATS, 14-2 SU) (LW: 9)
11: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (4-7 ATS, 9-6 SU) (LW: 11)
12: Virginia Tech Hokies (3-7 ATS, 10-5 SU) (LW: 10)
