College Hoops Betting – Pac-10 Tournament Preview
March 9, 2011
Looking to make some quick cash this week in the College Hoops Betting? Why not wager on some conference tournament futures?
Today let’s look at the odds to win the Pac-10 Tournament.
Arizona (+200): Entering the tournament, it’s no surprise that along with UCLA (more on them coming), the Wildcats are the College Hoops Betting favorite in this conference. They finished the regular season with a Pac-10 best 14-4 conference mark.
And they just so happen to have the best player in the conference, forward Derrick Williams. Williams- a likely All-American- is what vaulted this team from good to great, and into a really high seed in the NCAA Tournament. He was the Wildcats only double-digit scorer this season, averaging 18.8 points per game, while also ripping down close to nine boards a contest.
The Wildcats were an impressive 8-2 in their last 10 games straight up, but it is important to note that they were 0-5 against the spread in their last five.
UCLA (+200): Don’t believe in Arizona? Than UCLA may be the College Hoops Betting pick for you!
The Bruins are quietly one of the hottest teams in the country, winning nine of their last 11 games, including a dominating 71-49 victory over Arizona just two weeks ago. The Bruins have size of their own in the paint with forward Reeves Nelson (14 points, nine boards a game), but also get major contribution from guard Malcolm Lee who averages 13 points a game.
Washington (+250): Of every club in this conference, it very well could be the Washington Huskies who enter with the best value. Washington is the defending Pac-10 Tournament champion, and beat UCLA just last week at home.
For the Huskies, their College Hoops Betting chances all rest on the shoulders of guard Isaiah Thomas. The 5’9 sparkplug averaged 16 points per game, and a Pac-10 high 5.6 assists per game.
In the paint, Washington has Matthew Bryan-Amaning, maybe one of the most underrated players in this conference, who averages 16 points and over eight boards per game.
Again, at the odds you’re getting them, Washington might be the College Hoops Betting pick on board.
USC (+250): At 18-13 and 10-8 in conference, the Trojans of USC could very well play way into the NCAA Tournament with a few wins this weekend.
Like the rest of the teams in this conference, it all comes down to what type of production they get from their best player, big guy Nikola Vucevic. That’s because while Williams and Nelson get all the credit in this conference, Vucevic was as good as either, averaging over 17 points per game, and a Pac-10 high 10.3 rebounds a contest as well.
To their credit, the Trojans may be the hottest team in this tournament, having won five of their last six games, including wins over Arizona and Washington.
Here are some College Hoops Betting long shots to consider as well:
-Washington State (+1000)
-California (+1200)
-Stanford (+2000)
-Oregon (+3000)
-Oregon State (+3000)
-Arizona State (+5000)
