College Football Week 5: LSU at Georgia
October 1, 2009
The three point favorite Georgia Bulldogs host the LSU Tigers in the college football betting game of the week at 3:30 PM at Sanford Stadium.
The Tigers performance last week was awful despite the win in overtime 30-26 over Mississippi State.
They were outgained 374-263 in total yards and 151-30 on the ground plus only converted 2 of 13 on third down. The truth is they won because they scored touchdowns on an interception and a punt return.
Also they stopped Mississippi in the final two minutes at their own 2 yard goal line to sail the victory. Those are some impressive big plays, especially if you realize they are about to face a team that turn the ball over 3 times in the victory 20-17 over Arizona State last week.
The Bulldogs QB Joe Cox threw 242 yards, had a TD and two interceptions in that game. WR AJ Green had 8 receptions for 153 yard and one TD in his biggest game of the season so far.
QB and WR who can make big plays are a big edge in NCAA Football and Georgia has them both.
If LSU wants to remain undefeated they must get their running game going. They had a poor performance on the ground last week as they ran for 30 yards overall.
LSU leads the all-time series 14-12-1. Georgia is 9-1 versus SEC West opponents during the past four seasons and 20-5 overall against that division under Head Coach Mark Richt.
College Football Week 5 Odds:
LSU Tigers +3 -110
Georgia Bulldogs -3 -110
My pick: Bulldogs may win but won’t cover the spread.
