College Football Week 4 Money Line Betting
September 25, 2009
Don’t mean to brag but last week’s Money Line Picks was a full sweep of the board (4-0) as the three favorites came through and Florida State cashed in as a big underdog. Let’s see if we can keep it going this week:
Record: 9-3 (+8.85)
Miami Hurricanes @ Virginia Tech Hokies
Can you say overrated? Everyone in the country is drinking the orange Kool-Aid right now and it’s time to step away from the drink. Yes, the Hurricanes are back to being a contender in the ACC and yes, the Hurricanes young talent is finally starting to come together. But this team is not a National Championship contender.
The ACC championship still goes through Blacksburg and the Hurricanes will find that out this week. Their defense will let them down and the Hokies unit will carry them as they make a statement.
Pick: Virginia Tech +115
Arkansas Razorbacks @ Alabama Crimson Tide
The Arkansas Razorbacks failed to beat the Georgia Bulldogs at home, they definitely won’t be beating Alabama on the road.
The Razorbacks will feel a little deflated this week as the Georgia contest was a big game for them and they blew a 21-10 lead. They are an improving SEC team but they aren’t ready to knock off a top dog like Alabama.
Tide roll in this one.
Pick: Alabama -800
South Florida Bulls @ Florida State Seminoles
While the Miami Hurricanes might be overrated, the Seminoles might be underrated. They were one play away from beating Miami and they stomped BYU last week. They did nearly choke against Jacksonville State but let’s be honest, every team has one bad game per year.
The Bulls are without quarterback Matt Grothe, who tore his ACL last week and it’s really going to hurt their chances in this game – and this year.
The Seminoles are too much for the Bulls to handle right now and they are still looking for respect.
Pick: Florida State -550
TCU Horned Frogs @ Clemson Tigers
While the ACC is back, Clemson is not. The Tigers are still the same old Tigers, which means you can expect them to choke in big games. This isn’t exactly a big game for them but it is a match-up against a ranked opponent.
For TCU, this game is very important. Obviously, if they want to BCS bust, they have to win. Expect them to be really focused this week after their Mountain West cohorts Utah and BYU lost last week.
TCU carries the Mountain West flag and they’ll wave it in Death Valley.
Pick: TCU +120
