TEASE ME!

College Football Teasers of the Week

This week, which is the first one doing it for college, what we want to do is introduce four different kinds of teasers you can use in your college football betting odds at BetOnline. The team we’re using is on the left, with the "teased" number and the opponent in parentheses.

Let’s start off with a simple one, which is TWO-TEAM, SIX-POINT TEASER in which we have to win both ends of course and will lay 11/10 (-110) in college football betting:

Michigan +9.5 ( Michigan State)

N.C. State +8.5 ( Wake Forest)

At this moment, I much prefer Michigan’s freshman quarterback, Tate Fourcier, to his Michigan State counterpart, Kirk Cousins. I guess I was way wrong about the "PracticeGate" scandal screwing up Rich Rodriguez’s plans for his second season…….I think I’m okay in grabbing extra points in our college football betting, even on the road, with an NC State team that has covered 16 of their last 21 games and has a quarterback in Russell Wilson who is not making stupid mistakes, having thrown 364 passes without an interception.

Now here is something to the other extreme, in a sense. It is a FOUR-TEAM, 13-POINT TEASER where you have to LAY 3/2 (-150) in this college football betting proposition:

Houston -2 (UTEP)

Vanderbilt +23 (Ole Miss)

Syracuse +19.5 ( South Florida)

Virginia Tech -3.5 (Duke)

Houston should easily outscore a UTEP team that gave up in its game against Texas, and which really has no home field advantage. QB Case Keenum has a HUGE edge over his UTEP counterpart, Trevor Vittatoe…..I am not so sure about Jevan Snead. He looks ordinary to me, and I can’t trust his Ole Miss offense to create a lot of space between itself and a Vandy defense that will scrap at home…….South Florida is riding high, and slapped FSU in college football betting last week, but I want to see BJ Daniels get it done in a second start after the fever pitch against Florida State, which rejected him as a high school recruit. Syracuse trigger man Greg Paulus, who wasn’t rejected by many out of high school but rejected football for hoops, is now starting to really heat things up under center for the Orange and he’ll keep them close….Virginia Tech should bounce back from the big Miami win to play well, as the defense, special teams and running game (Ryan Williams had 150 yards last week against Miami) will gets things handled.

The next one is a THREE-TEAM, TEN-POINT TEASER in which you will get ten points toward your side on three different games. In the college football betting parlance, you will LAY 6/5 here, so it’s -120.

Miami +17.5 ( Oklahoma)

Navy +7.5 (Air Force)

Stanford +5 (UCLA)

I’m wondering what the line would have been had Miami not encountered such awful passing conditions last week at Blacksburg. With freshman Landry Jones still starting for the Sooners, I don’t see why Miami wouldn’t have a chance to win the game…..Navy has won six straight games against Air Force, and they get to face Connor Dietz, who is none too dynamic as the Falcon quarterback……I know I am losing something in the teaser by "crossing the line" with Stanford (and usually we won’t do that), but I don’t think UCLA can win on the road with a quarterback like Kevin Craft and a 108th-ranked offense, especially against a team that has covered eight straight games at home. Don’t be surprised if Chris Owusu, who’s averaged 59 yards a kickoff return, breaks another one.

Next in our college football betting adventure we’ll take a FOUR-TEAM, SEVEN-TEAM TEASER in which we take seven points to the good in four different games. You will get paid off at odds of 2/1 (+200):

Penn State pick ( Illinois)

Texas A&M +8.5 ( Arkansas)

Auburn +9.5 ( Tennessee)

California +12 (USC)

No, Penn State was not as good as its national ranking going into last week’s contest against Iowa, but the Nittany Lions are still talented, and should be to rebound against an Illinois team that appears dysfunctional right now. No team with Juice Williams and Arrelious Benn should be averaging 4.5 points a game against Division I competition, but that’s where the Illini is…….Texas A&M has a lot of terrific young players and should be able to score enough to make this a barn burner at the very least, and QB Jerrod Jackson may just have an edge over his Arkansas counterpart, Ryan Mallett……Auburn hits the road for the first time this season, but what makes anyone think the Jonathan Crompton-led Vols could create any distance between itself and a Tiger team that is substantially improved on BOTH sides of the ball? The points in college football betting may be a gift here…..People are starting to ask a lot of questions about USC’s KO power, especially after drab performances against both Washington and Washington State. Yes, freshman quarterbacks can be problematic. As deep as the Trojans are in the backfield (even without Stafon Johnson), the biggest weapon on this field is Cal’s Jahvid Best.

Good luck to you.
