College Football Teams in the Dog House

October 7, 2009

Everyone on the Houston Cougars not named Case Keenum… Kiss your BCS bowl dreams good-bye, Cougs. You were probably the most embarrassing team in the nation last week. You came into UTEP all high and mighty after beating a pair of Big XII opponents, and you laid a ridiculous egg.

Your defense gave up 58 points, a whopping 41 of which came in the second half, and 581 friggin’ yards to a Miners’ team that just got pasted by Texas 64-7 the week before.

It’s great that your butts are now out of the Top-25, as you’ve been exposed as frauds. Too bad that QB Case Keenum is now almost certainly out of the Heisman Trophy running, though. He threw for 536 yards and five TDs without a pick in the game.

It wasn’t his fault. He leads the #1 passing attack in college football and will probably be the QB with the best numbers of any team in the NCAA in ’09 as long as he remains healthy.

HC Jeff Tedford and his California Bears… What happened, Cal? Two weeks ago, you were the talk of the town. Your running back, Jahvid Best was coming off of a five-touchdown game against Minnesota, you were ranked in the Top-10, and people were asking who you were playing in the National Championship game after you beat USC.

Ok, so you looked ahead to the game with the Trojans and were embarrassed by the Ducks in Eugene. Yeah, that’s embarrassing, but how could you not even show a pulse against arguably your biggest rivals at home after getting shellacked like that the week before?

After getting outscored 72-6 in your two biggest games of the year, kiss the BCS goodbye! See ya in the Emerald Bowl….
