College Football Quick Picks – Saturday’s Best Bets

NCAA: Saturday Quick Picks

Game-day: 9/12/2009

The Week Two of college football doesn’t promise to bring the same surprises as the Week One did, but it still should be an interesting one for college football betting fans.

BetOnline has football betting odds on almost every single game this Saturday, Oklahoma vs. Idaho State is up in the air because of Sam Bradford’s injury, and gamblers should already be looking into the NCAA football sportsbook for the best online football bets available.

Here’s four games that I believe could yield nice profits.

2:00 pm EST

Arkansas State vs. Nebraska

Analysis: Nebraska’s offense put up 49 points and absolutely routed Florida International last week 49 to 3. Coach Bo Pellini wasn’t too happy with his team claiming that the Black Shirts ( Nebraska’s D) were “soft”. They did give up 358 yards to Florida International.

This week they should be stouter, but Arkansas State isn’t a pushover. Believe it or not, the Red Wolves looked fantastic last week, routing Mississippi Valley State 61 to 0. There are 22 seniors and 26 juniors on this Arkansas State team and they have the right attitude, execute well, and have no delusions are grandeur. They could be tough for Nebraska to handle this Saturday even if the Black Shirts play better.

Pick: Arkansas State at +21 ½

3:30 pm EST

BYU vs. Tulane

Analysis: BYU played about as well as they could against Oklahoma last Saturday and upset the #3 ranked Sooners. The Cougars are a very good team, but I do expect a let down this week in New Orleans as BYU no doubt went through a lot of emotion last week. They feel bad about hurting Sam Bradford and their offense wasn’t exactly spell binding last Saturday. I know, I know, Tulane only put up 13 points against Tulsa, but Brigham Young will suffer a let down and Tulane will, well, lose by around two touchdowns in this game.

Pick: Tulane +17 ½

7:00 pm EST

Air Force vs. Minnesota

Analysis: The Golden Gophers barely beat Syracuse last Saturday and Air Force dominated Nicholls State 72 to 0. Yes, Syracuse is better than Nicholls State, but come on! Seriously? Barely beating Syracuse? I actually believe that Air Force might be better than Minnesota. Their offense certainly looks better and year in and year out Air Force does well against non-conference opponents. Minnesota is just an okay Big Ten team and the Big Ten Conference, after Michigan and Penn State, just isn’t that impressive to me. I have to take the Falcons and the points on the road in this game.

Pick: Air Force at +3 ½

7:30 pm EST

Kansas vs. UTEP

Analysis: Kansas has a six-year winless streak against non-conference teams on the road, but make no mistake, this team is very, very good. The Jayhawks shouldn’t be taken lightly in the Big 12 this season even though their schedule is downright daunting. Against UTEP, they should be close to perfect as the Miners couldn’t handle Buffalo, losing 23 to 17 in their first game of the season. Kansas is much better than Buffalo and should stomp UTEP even though they play the miners on the road. Kansas also gets three players back after benching the three for last week’s game against Northern Colorado.

Pick: Kansas at -12 ½
