College Football Predictions – SEC Still Owned by Alabama
October 2, 2010
I have some College Football Predictions for this game: Alabama rolls. The Tide Rolls. Gators get grilled. Alabama covers the 8 points plus easily.
Florida has revenge and momentum on their side, but they’re just not that good.
Florida Gators (4-0) at Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0) – Saturday, Feb 2 8:00 ET CBS
Bryant-Denny Stadium (101,821) – Tuscaloosa, Alabama

I have to admit that Alabama showed they do have some ways to get beaten. Arkansas railed them for three quarters last week before Ryan Mallett served them up in the 4th quarter. I said it’s possible to beat Alabama. I didn’t say it would be done.
The Florida players remember last year’s SEC Championship in the Georgia Dome drubbing 32-13. I wasn’t sure there was that much to that until I read about when Florida took Alabama out the year before in the SEC Championship.
Mark Ingram remembered when Bama lost to Florida the year before and said all he could think of was that for the entire year until they got back to that game to play them again. HMMM. Maybe there is something to be said for revenge working. My College Football Predictions say that maybe is a NO.
Jeff Demps is still a question mark for Florida which could make a huge difference. His sprained left foot is still up in the air. Will he play? Will he be effective? Will he hurt the team if he tries to play? Anyway, I guess you get the idea.
It is a big deal though. He adds a threat to go ‘zone from anywhere if he gets a seam. Nobody is runnin’ up on him. They need everything they can muster, and even that probably isn’t enough.
I’m sure the Florida coach Urban Meyer has the Gators watching the first three quarters of last week’s ‘Bama-Arkansas game to figure out how you neutralize that team. I just don’t think Florida has even close to the skill, power or drive to come close to a win here.
Florida’s rushing defense is impressive at #13 allowing 94 rushing yards a game. That’s impressive against the other scrubs they have been playing. When you have the defending Heisman winner Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson in the backfield, you can throw away that alleged good rush defense.
Alabama, on the other hand, has to be learning from last week themselves. Another one of my College Football Predictions says they are going to make sure their national title is never in jeopardy like it was against the Razorbacks last week.
I’m sure Nick Saban had some “talks” with his defensive secondary after that first half schooling by Ryan Mallett last week. Marcell Dareus is limited with an ankle sprain this week and will be felt if he’s not full speed on that D.
Florida’s offense hasn’t done anything until last week. I don’t believe against this Alabama defense they can put up those kind of numbers. I say this is where the Tide locks up the game. They’re going to put a train wreck in between the Gators and the end zone. I don’t think they can get through either.
I have a couple closing College Football Predictions for this game. I don’t think Florida scores above the teens in this contest. This defense is no joke, and the Gators haven’t even faced a ranked team yet this season…until now.
Alabama will have its way with the Gators and score at least 2 touchdowns more than the Florida Gators. Of all my College Football Predictions today, Florida will cover the spread of 8 points beating the Gators by something close to 38-19. TRUE DAT!!
