College Football Power Poll – WAC is Boise State’s to Loose

Preseason WAC Belt Power Poll

Boise State has dominated the WAC NCAAF betting odds for years, but how do the other eight teams in the conference stack up for football bettors? Find out with BetOnline’s first WAC power poll of the season…

1: Boise State Broncos ( 8-3-1 ATS, 12-1 SU in 2008) RB Ian Johnson may be gone, but there’s plenty of offensive firepower for the Blue Field Boys to bank on in ’09. Super sophomore QB Kellen Moore threw for 3,503 yards and 25 TDs in his freshman season, and he’ll be expected to do a lot more for the offense this year. Major conference schools don’t come to the Smurf Turf often, but the last time a team from Oregon made the trip to Boise, the Beavers were dropped 42-14. Don’t say you didn’t get the warning, Oregon…

Up Next: Home vs. Oregon

2: Utah State Aggies ( 7-4-1 ATS, 3-9 SU in 2008) The Aggies may not have stood much of a chance to win games outright last season, but they certainly did a number on the football betting odds. You don’t see Utah State favored often, but when it is, ride the $$$-train! The Aggies are 5-0 ATS in their L/5 games as the choices of the oddsmakers. They’re facing a three-TD spread as dogs this weekend against the team with the longest winning streak in the nation.

Up Next: Away @ Utah

3: Hawaii Warriors (7-6 ATS, 7-7 SU in 2008) Hawaii clearly wasn’t anywhere near the same team last season without QB Colt Brennan or former HC June Jones. Now, the only thing keeping the Warriors in the news is the fact that their head coach made a slur about homosexuals and offended the entire country. Not a good sign for a team with six roadies and home games against Boise State and Wisconsin this year.

Up Next: Home vs. Central Arkansas

4: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (6-6 ATS, 8-5 SU in 2008) The Bulldogs scored a big victory for the program by beating Mississippi State to start the ’08 season, and they closed out strong by winning five of their L/6, including a bowl victory over Northern Illinois. Both lines were strong for the Techsters last season, as the Bulldogs averaged 187.2 yards per game on the ground and only allowed 105.3 yards to opposing runners.

Up Next: Away @ Auburn

5: San Jose State Spartans (5-6 ATS, 6-6 SU in 2008) San Jose State just narrowly missed out on a bowl game last season in spite of the fact that its defense ranked 21 st in the country, allowing just 311.6 yards per game. The truth of the matter is that the offense was putrid averaging just 18.7 points per game. No wonder the Spartans are nearly five-TD pups at the Coliseum this week.

Up Next: Away @ USC

And the rest…

6: Nevada Wolfpack (5-7 ATS, 7-6 SU in 2008)

7: New Mexico State Aggies (4-7 ATS, 3-9 SU in 2008)

8: Idaho Vandals (4-7 ATS, 2-10 SU in 2008)

9: Fresno State Bulldogs (2-11 ATS, 7-6 SU in 2008)
