College Football Picks: Arkansas State vs Louisiana-Monroe
October 13, 2009
Arkansas State at Louisiana-Monroe
Tuesday Night football brings us the Arkansas State Red Wolves visiting the 2 point favorite Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at 8:00 PM ET at Malone Stadium.
College Football odds:
Arkansas State Red Wolves + 2
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks -2
Arkansas has lost 3 of the last 4 four games including a 24-21 defeat against Iowa a couple of weeks ago.
In that game Arkansas State scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, but the comeback fell short as they fell to 0-5 all-time against the Big Ten.
So far this season QB Corey Leonard has thrown for 666 yards 4 TD with only one pick…he doesn’t turn the ball over much but doesn’t put big numbers either, so it’s hard to bet on the Red Wolves.
The Red Wolves are the number one total defense in the Sun Belt division allowing only 23.0 per game. Their rush defense is ranked 10th, a nice stat for you to bet on
On the other hand the Warhawks arrive to this matchup win two wins in a row after defeating Florida Atlantic and Florida International.
RB Frank Goodin and QB Trey Revell each scored three touchdowns in their last win 48-35 over Florida International a couple of weeks ago.
Remember QB position is far more important in college football than the NFL and Monroe seems to have an edge in this game as Revell has throw over 1000 yards and 7 TD with 4 picks so far this season.
A great QB also needs great WRs, so keep in mind Revell’s best target is WR Darrell McNeal who had 108 yards and 2 TD against Florida International; he averages 14.6 receiving yards per attempt.
This is going to be a close game, but if the Red Wolves play defense like they did against Iowa this might be an upset.
My pick: Bet on Arkansas to win.
