The Thundering Herd might be 0-2 on the season, but they have faced a heck of a schedule so far to date and are finally getting a bit of a reprieve in this one. Last week, they played admirably in the home opener against the West Virginia Mountaineers, pushing them into overtime before finally succumbing 24-21.
Though it wasn’t a stellar day for the Marshall defense, Brian Anderson stepped up in a big way and played a nearly flawless game. He threw for 229 yards and three TDs on 20-of-29 passing. However, when it mattered most in OT, Anderson couldn’t get the troops on the scoreboard, which led to the easy victory for WVU with a short field goal.
Marshall also got great games out of Martin Ward and Aaron Dobson. Dobson caught four passes for 120 yards and a score, while Ward scampered for 101 yards on just 11 carries.
Bowling Green is one of just two teams in the country that are 2-0 while making your college football picks ATS but is still winless SU.
Part of the reason why the team is winless is because of turnovers. Matt Schiltz has thrown four picks this year, three of which came last week in a 33-20 loss to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
Willie Geter looks like he is becoming more involved with the offense this year than he was in years past, as this was his second straight game with at least 15 carries. Geter only rushed for 50 yards and had one of the three scores for the team on the day.
Look out for Kamar Jorden to go crazy in this game, especially if the Falcons fall behind. He had 14 catches last week and now has 23 receptions for 279 yards on the campaign.
NCAA Football Insider Tip: BGSU is only 5-17 ATS in its L/22 home games overall.
This is awful news for a bunch of Falcons that have been incredibly unlucky this year. Bowling Green does have the goods to win this game, but Doc Holliday and his crew seem a lot more determined to ultimately snare a victory. Look for Anderson and the visitors to get the job done.
Our college football picks are on the Herd to clip the Falcons.
