College Football Pick – Seminoles and Wolfpack seek BCS Glory

October 29, 2010

The Bowl Championship Series tries to make each College Football Pick that gets in special and deserving. The fact is that some get in based on customary rites; the reality is that these choices aren’t always statistically right.

The Seminoles and the Wolfpack are fighting for a possibility at the ACC Champion guaranteed spot in a BCS Bowl. This is not just another game. This game is for Gravy, Glory and Growth. This is Greater than Good, Grimy, Gopher Guts!!

Florida St, Seminoles (6-1) at NC State Wolfpack (5-2) – Thursday, October 28 at 7:45 ET (ESPN)
Carter Finley Stadium (57,583) – Raleigh, North Carolina

College Football Line:

Florida State Seminoles (4-2 ATS) -3 ½ (ML -175)
NC State Wolfpack (4-2 ATS) +3 ½ (ML +155)
Over/Under Game Total – 58

Both of these teams are coming off bye weeks and looking to control the Atlantic Division of the ACC.

NC State Head Coach Tom O’Brien has yet to defeat the Seminoles in 3 tries thus far. This is the first year the Wolfpack has a chance to win the ACC and make a possible BCS Bowl game within reach.

Quarterback Russell Wilson had a monster game last year against the Seminoles throwing for 349 yards and 5 touchdowns. He’s a year older and wiser as a junior averaging over 300 yards a game with 18 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

He’s also an athletic guy with 200 yards rushing and 2 more touchdowns on the ground this year. He has 8 interceptions in NC State’s last 3 games and will need to keep that controlled to take down a hungry Seminole team.

Florida State also has its sights on a possible BCS bid with their only loss to Oklahoma this year.

The Seminoles quarterback Christian Ponder got some treatment and rest on this bye week for an injury to his right throwing elbow. He studied film and his mechanics while finding his rhythm again this week.

Florida State’s defense leads the nation in QB sacks and it remains to be seen if that will be enough to slow down or contain the Wolfpack’s Russell Wilson and that successful passing game.

The key to the Seminoles will be if QB Christian Ponder can have a successful passing game with his elbow injury. He is still getting daily treatment on what he says is “a little sore”. He threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns a year ago.

I’ve been following Florida State this year, and I’ve rated them higher than any of the NCAA Football College Polls since the third week. I expect them to continue to show they’re a top 10 College Football Pick team again this week.

NC State just doesn’t have the depth or conditioning to stay with this Seminole team.

College Football Pick: Bet Florida State -3 ½ over North Carolina State
