Faurot Field (71,004) – Columbia, Missouri

College Football Odds:

Oklahoma Sooners (3-3 ATS) -3 (ML -155)

Missouri Tigers (4-2 ATS) +3 (ML +135)

Over/Under Game Total – 53

Oklahoma is coming off a 52-0 shutout of Iowa State after 3 tight games against worthy opponents. The key is that they won these games against opponents ranked or on the border of being ranked.

This put the Sooners into the inaugural position of leading the BCS standings in the first week. They’re getting tested right away against Big 12 Conference opponent and undefeated Missouri, the 11th ranked BCS team.

Missouri has limited opponents to an average of 10.8 points a contest which is the second best in the FBS standings. Much of this has to do with their dominance in the red zone. They are the best in that area.

The Tigers are probably getting an extra boost that is major for their defense also. Defensive end Aldon Smith fractured his fibula, and has been out three games. This All-American frosh says “There’s nothing that could stop me from playing.” They had 7 sacks last week without him, so watch out.

The offense got its stimulator last week when Quarterback Blaine Gabbert had a 3 touchdown 361 yard day upsetting Texas A&M 30-9. The College Football Odds say that won’t happen this week, but it doesn’t need to.

Oklahoma QB Landry Jones leads an offense 12th in the nation passing yards with 303.0 per game. He really has developed this year after relieving Sam Bradford a year ago as a freshman. His long ball is on target and his leadership is showing.

Wide Receiver Ryan Broyles has also been a key to Landry’s success catching 15 passes in his 30-34 passing clinic last week against Iowa State.

Oklahoma’s running game has 5 guys that share the ball in the balanced rushing game Oklahoma has developed. They may not have pressed the limits of the run game with the passing game so successful thus far.

The history and the College Football Odds of this matchup paint a gloomy past for Missouri. Oklahoma is on a 7 win streak against the Tigers, and they have won 19 of 20 in this series. Missouri won in 1998. Throw all of that out of your window.

Oregon’s dominating performance may challenge the Sooners for top dog in BCS rankings this week. The Sooners better not slip up, or Oregon gets a strong grip on what they think is their rite anyway.

OR maybe Mighty Mizzou wins and shoots up alongside the Ducks for BCS status. Let’s not forget about unbeatens Auburn and LSU beating it up at 3:30 ET.

Missouri follows this up traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska to meet the Cornhuskers for what may be the Big 12 Division decider.

College Football Odds are hard enough to figure out without all these BCS, Big 12, NCAA and FBS implications. These are two teams at the top of their game right now this week.

The decision comes down to defense here. Missouri has the tighter, better and deeper defense here. By these College Football Odds, there is a great upside on this choice:
