College Football Line – New Mexico at Pac-10 Favorite Oregon

September 4, 2010

The Oregon Ducks will take on the New Mexico Lobos in a first game of the year matchup that has tune-up written all over it according to the college football line and of course common sense. Oregon has its identity set with its vaunted spread offense under Chip Kelly while New Mexico seems to have lost the toughness that defined the program during its best years.

Can New Mexico keep this college football game close and score a moral victory against one of the best teams in the nation on Saturday?

New Mexico at Oregon

3:30 pm ET Autzen Stadium

College football line: Oregon favored at -35

The Ducks don’t have Jeremiah Masoli, the bowling ball/passing star of a quarterback that was kicked off the team. It’s too bad because he is the kind of player that fires up the team and the crowd with his hard-hitting runs and crisp passes.

But Oregon will be okay at the quarterback spot and that’s all fans need to know going into a game like this as a good quarterback is the difference between a college football game spread victory and a loss, as well as a straight up win and a loss for that matter.

Oregon’s got Nate Costa waiting in the wings and, truth be told, he is a better passer and perhaps a more consistent performer at quarterback which should be enough to help Oregon score the points necessary for a college football line win on Saturday.

Throw in the fact that B.R. Holbrook, the starting quarterback for New Mexico, has only thrown 34 passes in his young career and the Lobos will find their options limited on offense against a raucous Autzen Stadium crowd, one of the best in college football.

The underrated Ducks defense will swam all over him and create turnovers en route to a huge Oregon victory.

College football line pick: Oregon (-35).
