College Football Game Lines – BC To Lay Points on Road vs Wake

November 6, 2010

It is going to be a rare role for the Boston College Eagles as they are being asked to lay points on the road as they play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Winston-Salem.

Wake is on a losing streak, as the machinations of coach Jim Grobe don’t seem to be working. Game time is set for 3:30 PM ET at BB&T Field (artificial turf), and the Eagles are three-point favorites, with a total of 48 points as it is posted in the college football game lines.

College Football Game Odds:

Here are some of the trends as they might impact our football betting advice on this game:

· Boston College has covered two of its last seven games
· Boston College has lost five of its last six games SU
· Boston College has played five of its last seven games UNDER the total
· Boston College has covered one of its last five games
· Boston College has lost eight of its last ten road games SU
· Boston College has played five of its last six road games UNDER the total

· Wake Forest has covered two of its last six games
· Wake Forest has lost its last six games SU
· Wake Forest has played five of its last seven games OVER the total
· Wake Forest has won 18 of its last 25 home games SU
· Wake Forest has lost four of its last six home games SU

Wake Forest has lost its last six games straight-up, and it has been by an average of 26 points a game. In four of those games they have been trounced in the college football game lines.

Tanner Price has had his struggles at quarterback, throwing it 53 times against Navy in a one-point loss, then completing just three of 16 in a 31-point defeat against Virginia Tech.

Last week Price was 16 of 31 for 156 yards against Maryland, a game where Wake Forest’s defense, which gave up 116 points in the first two games, regressed to that level again, with the team outscored 446-155 by the Terps.

This is clearly not what we have expected out of a Jim Grobe team, but there is just no one who can stop the opposition.

Here are some of the head-to-head trends that may influence our football betting advice on this game:

· Boston College has won four of the last five meetings SU
· Four of the last five meetings have gone OVER the total

Opponents have scored a point for every 11.1 yards they have gained against Wake Forest, and that is, to say the least, distressing. But it also opens a door for the Boston College offense, which has been having some struggles of its own, as the quarterback position has gone from one player to another.

In the 16-10 win over Clemson last week, Chase Rettig, who has a live arm, completed nine of 16 passes. What has been a constant in the BC attack has been the play of Montel Harris, the brilliant junior running back who has stepped up his play recently, putting together 450 yards in his last three games.

This represents a distinct advantage on the part of Boston College, which allows just 84 rushing yards a game and 2.7 per carry.

Wake allowed five yards a pop on the ground, but that hasn’t prevented them from being very competitive with two of the best ground attacks in the country at home, as they have lost to Georgia Tech and Navy by a combined five points.

It would not surprise me if they rebounded from last week’s complete embarrassment and put forth an effort for Grobe here, so we will grab points against a shaky favorite (BC 2-10 ATS last 12 on board) in the college football game lines.
