College Football Expert Pick: Flordia vs LSU
October 8, 2009
The biggest game of the year in College Football so far features a battle of undefeated team as this Saturday as the seven point favorites Florida Gators visit LSU Tigers at 8:00 PM at Tiger Stadium.
College Football odds:
Florida Gators -7
LSU Tigers +7
A few doubts remain in Tim Tebow’s health as the Florida Gators QB recovers from a concussion suffered two weeks ago. Tebow remains a game time decision for Saturday’s game.
The 2007 Heisman Trophy winners is third in the nation in passer rating through four games (170.3), has thrown six touchdown passes and run for five others.
Is hard to find a weakness in any Florida lines but without Tebow in the lineup LSU Tigers might have a chance.
Even assuming Tebow is cleared to play against LSU the Gators could end up limiting him on carries in this matchup and could lean on the pass a bit more. If that is the case LSU might have an advantage.
All college football fans know that Florida has an impressive offense. They have scored at least one TD in 47 of the last 53 quarters. Their defense isn’t too shabby; they have only allowed one rushing TD and one passing TD all season.
LSU also takes pride in their defense. They held Georgia’s offense in check for most of the game last week but struggled stopping them on 3rd downs allowing them to convert on 7 of 17.
The Tigers QB Jordan Jefferson must get the ball out of his hands quickly in order to avoid being sacked by Gators pass rush.
LSU is 2-8-1 all-time against No. 1 teams. In 1997 they beat Florida in regular-season 88-21 over Florida in a primetime at Tiger Stadium. Remember Tim Tebow status is a game time decision.
My pick: if Tebow doesn’t start the Gators won’t cover the spread.
