College Football Betting Week 2 Recap
September 14, 2009
The second week on NCAA Football betting didn’t bring many surprises. The only real upset was the 38- 34 Michigan’s win over Notre Dame (18).
It was a back and forth game. Tate Forcier’s 5 yard game winning touchdown pass to Greg Mathews with 11 seconds remaining lifted the Wolverines to an amazing upset over Charlie Wei’s boys on Saturday.
“Charlie is a good football coach and he’s got a good football team. They’re going to win a lot of games. The quarterback is an NFL guy. They’ve got two of the best wide receivers I’ve seen in years and their running back is a big-time player”, Michigan Coach Rich Rodriguez said.
Of course the game of week was USC against Ohio State. Stafon Johnson finished one of the great drives in USC’s history with a 2-yard touchdown run with 1:05 left to give the Trojans an 18-15 victory against No. 8 Ohio State in Columbus.
With just 19 year old USC QB Matt Barkley wrote his name in the Trojans book history with this performance after just a couple of games played in college football.
College football betting fans should know USC has dominated Big Ten conference opponents in recent years, posting a perfect 10-0 record in the last 10 meetings.
Another team showing on the headlines is number nine seated Brigham Young University. The Cougars got two touchdown passes from Max Hall, and Bryan Kariya and J.J. DiLuigi each scored twice on the 54-3 beating over Tulane. They are 2-0 after upsetting Oklahoma last week.
The Cougars used 10 players to rush the ball and the quarterbacks hit 12 different receivers. Talk about a dynamic offense.
We also had some others blowouts. Number one seated Florida beats Troy 56 -6, also (14) Virginia Tech 52-10 over Marshall and (2) Texas 41 -10 over Wyoming.
Teams that showed in week 2 that are for real: Florida Gators, Alabama, Texas Longhorns and USC. I also like how BYU is performing right now but still is not a national title kind of team.
Teams that didn’t look so good: Ohio State Buckeyes (QB Terrelle Pryor had another weak game against a big opponent), LSU, TCU and Notre Dame.
