College Football Betting Picks – Oregon Ducks Get Monster Spread
October 9, 2010
The Oregon Ducks are slated as -36.5 favorites over the Washington State Cougars this weekend in college football betting, and a big reason for that monster number is LaMichael James who has thundered in to Heisman contention.
Oregon is on the brink of legitimate BCS contention and their top-ranked offense has pushed them in to the top-3 right behind Alabama and Ohio State.
None of that will likely change considering they’re up against the 1-4 SU Cougars who are 0-2 SU in Pac-10 competition.

As you can probably guess, Oregon has owned this matchup in the past 10 games. They’re 7-3 SU and just 5-5 ATS but have claimed a victory over Washington State and the college football betting line in the past three meetings.
Couple that trend with the fact that Oregon is 5-1 SU in their last 6 road games and 6-2 SU in the last 8 games when visiting Washington State, and you pretty much have a lock. The real question is whether or not their defense, ranked 15th in the country, can keep enough points off the board to cover a huge college football betting line.
#3 Oregon Ducks (5-0) vs. Washington State Cougars (1-4)
Saturday, October 9th — Martin Stadium — 5:00pm EST
College Football Betting Line: Oregon -36.5 (70)
LaMichael James has been incredible this season, rushing for 712 yards and 7 scores on the ground this year. He’s posted games of 227 and 257 yards while playing at home, though his numbers on the road aren’t as good. He still has 228 yards rushing and two touchdowns when playing away from home.
Which is why he’s become an outside shot to win the Heisman. James is the most productive running back in the league right now, though quarterback Denard Robinson (Michigan) and Mark Ingram (Alabama) are keeping the same pace.
Still, the Oregon Ducks are less concerned with bringing a Heisman to campus than they are about staying number-one in offense and remaining in the top-3 as they pray for Alabama or Ohio State to fumble a game away.
Washington State is giving nobody a reason to bet on them in this game. They’re 1-13 SU in the last 14 games and are ranked 92nd in points for with just 21.0. They won’t find a lot room to score against Oregon.
That’s why the Oregon Ducks at -36.5, with a full throttle offense and a stout defense can cover this number easily and bring some bacon home for their college football betting faithful.
