College Football Betting – Over-Under Win Totals Part IV
August 1, 2010
With the season just weeks away, it’s never too early to look at the college football odds.
Today, we’ll examine some of the over/under regular season win totals of this year’s top teams.
Southern Cal: Over 9 ½ Regular Season Wins (-140) or Under 9 ½ Regular Seasons Wins (+110): By now everyone knows that because of probation, the USC Trojans won’t be eligible to play in the postseason this year.

Don’t expect that to stop them from taking it out on the rest of the Pac-10 during the regular season though.
However, coming off an 8-4 regular season 2009, is this a 10-win team? It’s tough to say, as from top to bottom the Pac-10 has never been stronger, with five or six teams contending for the second spot in this conference behind the Trojans.
USC does benefit from an easier schedule that sees Oregon, Washington, Cal and Notre Dame come to Los Angeles.
Still, we’re going to play it safe and say to take the UNDER on this bet. Since going on probation, USC has seen several players transfer, hurting their depth. An injury here or there could cost them a win or two, costing you this bet in the process.
LSU: Over 8 Regular Season Wins (-105) or Under 8 Regular Season Wins (-125): Despite winning a National Championship three years ago, LSU coach Les Miles is most definitely on the hot seat, after back to back tough years. Will things turn around in 2010?
It won’t be easy, but the Tigers have hope. They welcome back junior quarterback Jordan Jefferson, who could have a monster year, after throwing for 2166 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2009.
On the other side of the ball, the defense did lose several key players, including linebacker Perry Riley and safety Chad Jones.
While the people down on the Bayou might not want to hear this, the play here is the UNDER. LSU has a brutal non-conference schedule that see’s them play North Carolina in their opener, and host West Virginia just a few weeks later.
And with the always tough SEC slate, getting to nine wins won’t be easy.
South Carolina: Over 7 Regular Season Wins (-115) or Under 7 Regular Season Wins (-115): Staying in the SEC, many view this year as South Carolina’s best chance ever to win the East under Steve Spurrier.
The Gamecocks welcome back talent all over the field, including quarterback Stephen Garcia, wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey, and defensive backs Chris Culliver and Stephon Gilmore.
Realistically though, for South Carolina to go over the seven regular season wins they’ve had the last two years, they’ll need to start hot: Four of their first five games are at home.
While many looking at the college football odds might disagree, take South Carolina in the OVER here. This might be Spurrier’s one last chance at greatness in Columbia, and he won’t pass it up.
Connecticut: Over 8 Regular Season Wins (EV) or Under 8 Regular Season Wins (-130): Heading down to the Big East, coach Randy Edsall welcomes back his most talented team ever at UConn, one which closed the season with convincing wins at Notre Dame and against South Carolina in the PapaJohns.com Bowl.
Is this the year they win the first outright Big East outright Big East title in school history?
It could be, as the Huskies return experience all over the field. Headlining the talent is quarterback Zach Frazer, 1000 yard rusher Jordan Todman, and a deep and experienced defense, led by former All-Big East linebackers Scott Lutrus and Lawrence Wilson.
However, the real reason to take the OVER on the Huskies in the college football lines is twofold: First, they’re not nearly as bad as last year’s record would indicate, as they lost their five games by a combined 15 points.
More importantly, the schedule breaks in their favor, with their three toughest opponents in the Big East- Cincinnati, West Virginia and Pittsburgh- all coming to Connecticut.
The Huskies will easily go OVER eight regular season wins.
