College Football Betting Odds – Michigan Wolverines vs. #12 Iowa Hawkeyes
October 10, 2009
The Iowa Hawkeyes escaped against Arkansas State last week and will now try to move up in the Big Ten when they take on the Michigan Wolverines. I’ve ranked the Hawkeyes 10th in my power rankings. The Hawkeyes have been terrific other than two strange games, one against Northern Iowa and the other to Arkansas State.
Michigan finally lost last Saturday against the rival Michigan State Spartans. It dropped the Wolverines out of my Top 25. Now, Michigan faces a much tougher opponent on the road, Iowa. It will be interesting to see how they respond.
Here is the College Football Betting Odds on this game.
Michigan Wolverines +8 -110
Iowa Hawkeyes -8 -110
Game-day: 10/10/2009
Kick-off: 8:00 pm EST
Here are a few betting trends for this game.
- The Michigan Wolverines are 2 and 5 ATS in their last 7 games on grass.
- The Michigan Wolverines are 2 and 6 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
- The Iowa Hawkeyes are 8 and 2 against the spread in their last 10 games on grass.
- The Underdog is 7 and 1 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
Michigan came down to earth last week in their first game on the road against Michigan State. The Wolverines lost the game by 6 in overtime. It was impressive how Michigan came back and tied the game even though Michigan State is not the type of team that should have challenged the Wolverines.
With the loss under their belts, the young Wolverines might actually play better the rest of this season. The pressure is off of Michigan which means that they can just play football.
Of course, they will need to play much better than they have all season in order to beat the Hawkeyes. Iowa can be a dominant team at times. They’ve beaten a good Arizona team, an okay Iowa State team, and a Top 10 team at the time in Penn State.
Iowa has very few weaknesses. If they simply concentrate on the game and don’t push things or lose focus, then they should easily handle Michigan.
