College Football Betting Lines – UCLA vs. Kansas State
September 4, 2010
The UCLA Bruins will visit the Kansas State Wildcats in a nice, afternoon treat for the college football line betting nut jobs on Saturday. While both teams have some minor adjustments to make heading in to the game, this game will be a rushing display to say the least. A back injury will slow starting quarterback Kevin Prince of the Bruins down, and that could give the Wildcats the window of opportunity they need.
Kansas State will entrust the safety of their college football lines to Carson Coffman, a 22-year old senior who pasted 71 completions for 863 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also threw four interceptions in limited playing time. Coffman played in just six games last season behind Grant Gregory who will serve as his backup this season.
Those numbers shouldn’t necessarily scare the Kansas State betting backers. The Wildcats are a running team that will rely on senior Daniel Thomas to carry the team. In 2009, Thomas ran for 1,265 yards and 11 touchdowns on 247 attempts.
UCLA will try to improve on a 4-12 SU road record in their past 16 games away from home, while putting a dent on Kansas State’s strong 6-1 SU record when playing at home. This team played last year with UCLA crushing Kansas State 23-9 while beating the college football line of -11.5.

NCAAF Betting Line: Kansas State -1.5 (44.5)
What’s making UCLA a dog isn’t just the home record of Kansas State, nor their woeful record in road games. Starting quarterback Kevin Prince is experiencing back pains and is likely to share time with backup Richard Brehaut this weekend. Prince threw for 2,050 yards and 8 touchdowns last year.
Brehaut, however is the future of UCLA football and played in minimal time last year while throwing for just 124 yards on 11 attempts in garbage time. and could use this game to steal the starting job, even though he’s just a 19-year old sophomore.
The Bruins are not a great football team. They’ve had to use a running-back by committee in recent years since nobody has been able to secure the starting job. Johnathan Franklin is gone and it looks as though junior Derrick Coleman will try to nail down starting job all by himself. At 6-foot-0 and 231 pounds, Coleman is a fridge on wheels. He averaged 4.5 yards per carry last year, while rushing for 244 yards on 54 attempts though he scored just 1 touchdown.
With Prince’s back injury and Kansas State’s solid state of mind, the UCLA Bruins don’t deserve a mention on the college football line. They’re in for a rough ride against the pesky Wildcats as they sort out their quarterback situation and fail to score enough points to make this game relevant for their immediate future.
