Both of these teams looked pretty impressive last week on their respective home field. Michigan won easily over Connecticut 30-10, while Notre Dame let Purdue get into the game occasionally before posting a 23-12 win, and covering for some people in the football game odds (though some of them took my football betting advice when Purdue was getting 11). The Irish made things difficult for the Purdue ground game, allowing just 3.2 yards a rush, and broke out an effective infantryman of their own in Armando Allen, who ran for 93 yards and a score. In his first start, you couldn’t ask for much more from Dayne Crist, who went 19-for-26 and was able to make use of two of the best receivers in the nation, WR Michael Floyd (five catches, 82 yards) and Kyle Rudolph (five catches, 43 yards).

Here are the head-to-head college football trends that are related to our football betting advice:
- Four of the last six meetings have gone OVER the total
- Michigan has won and covered four of the last five meetings as the road team
Before over 113,000 fans in Ann Arbor, Michigan may have finally found the guy to run its spread offense as it beat U-Conn. Denard Robinson, who was the team’s leading returning rusher this season, ran for 197 yards and hit 19 of 22 passes to be the model of efficiency against a Big East team that is not bad at all. When you talk about football betting advice, maybe it’s to follow THIS guy for a while. Sure, Notre Dame has its own spread and most likely the kind of receivers who could throw a scare into a Michigan secondary that allowed 60% completions last season, but this team has a genuine chance to exhibit some ball control against an Irish front that is facing a different test than it did last week.
Okay, final football betting advice time. Notre Dame has covered nine of its last 31 games at home. So can we feel any confidence laying points with this team, especially as Michigan has shown a recent history of being able to come to South Bend and win? I’m not sure I think so. This is probably one of those games where I would just rather be on the side taking points. In this particular case, that means backing the Wolverines, the 3.5-point underdog in the football game odds. That’s our football betting advice for Saturday.
