College Football Betting – Make Your Pick to Win the Big 12 Conference

The Big 12 conference dominates college football every year, and the 2010 season will prove to be no different.  Texas advanced to the BCS National Championship game last year to lose a hard-fought battle to the Alabama Crimson Tide after losing their star quarterback in the first half.  The college football betting odds to win the Big 12 Conference this season are out at the BetOnline Sportsbook now.

To Win the Big 12 Conference:

  • Baylor                   +2000
  • Colorado              +1200
  • Iowa State          +3000
  • Kansas                  +1500
  • Kansas State      +800
  • Missouri               +650
  • Nebraska             +240
  • Oklahoma           +225
  • Oklahoma State                +2000
  • Texas                    +200
  • Texas A&M         +800
  • Texas Tech          +1200

Although this will be a rebuilding year for Texas, they are still favored to win the Big 12, with their NCAA odds at +200.  Texas will rely on their new quarterback Garrett Gilbert, the one we all remember from the BCS championship game, who although made many rookie mistakes, almost lead the Horns to upset Alabama.

However, their Red River rival Oklahoma is close behind and will also be a tough and feisty team under the leadership of new quarterback Landry Jones.  Many other solid players will be returning for the Sooners, who finished second behind Texas in the Big 12 South last year.  However, the Sooners have a winning tradition, as they won the Big 12 conference in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Nebraska is the reigning winner of the Big 12 North, but lost to Texas in the Big 12 Championship game at Cowboys Stadium at the end of last season 13-12, thanks to a last-minute Longhorn field goal to seal the win.  The Cornhuskers lost their best player, Ndamukong Suh, who was the 2nd overall draft pick in the 2010 NFL Draft to the Detroit Lions.

Keep an eye on Texas A&M’s Jerrod Johnson.  He showed some good stuff last year as a sophomore quarterback and was selected as a second-team All Big 12 selection. He is expected to make a huge contribution to his team this year.  The Texas-Texas A&M rivalry began back in 1894 and is still going strong, as the Aggies are always pumped up and ready to upset the Horns each year.

The Baylor Bears are working to build a new program under coach Art Briles, but still lack depth and leadership. Texas Tech lost its fiery head coach Mike Leach due to team dissension and unsupported claims of mistreatment.

The safest and surest college football bets in the Big 12 are always between Texas and Oklahoma.  As the Horns struggle to rebuild and maintain their national success, the Sooners may take the Big 12 championship this year.
