College Basketball Spread Betting – Take Wisconsin Sunday
February 20, 2011
Coming off an emotional Thursday night win, should Penn State again be your College Basketball Betting pick this weekend? Let’s take a look, as they travel to Madison, WI, and one of the toughest road venues in all of sports.

That venue is the Kohl Center, where Wisconsin is 14-0 this year, and coming off their biggest win of the season. The win was last Saturday against Ohio State, and it knocked the Buckeyes from the ranks of the unbeaten. But with a pesky Penn State squad coming to town, will Wisconsin win another College Basketball Spread Betting matchup?
The odds look good, and they’ll only increase if the Badgers get continued strong play from guard Jordan Taylor and center Jon Leuer. The two form the fiercest inside-outside combo in the Big Ten (outside Columbus) anyway, with each a strong candidate for All-American consideration. Leuer is this team’s leading scorer averaging 19 points and seven rebounds per game, while Taylor does the bulk of the ball-handling. He is averaging 18 points and five assists a contest himself. The two combined for 39 points in the win over Ohio State last Saturday.
But don’t sleep on Penn State, because as they’ve proven this year, they can steal a College Basketball Spread Betting win. The Nittany Lions are 6-3-1 against the spread in their last 10.
And one of those games was Thursday night’s thriller against Minnesota. In that game, Penn State played maybe the game of their season, as they won a back-and-forth contest 66-63. As has been the story all year, the star of that game was guard Talor Battle. The senior had 28 points, and in the process made a season-high seven three-pointers. It was his 13th game of 20 or more points this year. Forward David Jackson added 13 points as well.
Ultimately though, those stats tell you everything you need to know about this matchup: Penn State just doesn’t get enough scoring from anyone besides Battle. On the year, this club ranks just 282nd nationally in scoring, at barely over 64 points a game, with nearly a third of those points coming from Battle himself. It won’t help that they’re going up against a Wisconsin club that is No. 2 nationally in points allowed, giving up a meager 57.2 per game.
Although Penn State won 56-52 when these two got together in Happy Valley, this is a totally different ball-game in the rowdy environment in the Kohl Center.
With the Badgers defense, and plenty of offense from Leuer and Taylor, that should be enough to seal Wisconsin a College Basketball Spread Betting victory Sunday.
