Wake Forest: +22 ½
North Carolina: -22 ½
It won’t be an easy task for Roy Williams’ bunch as the point spread is one of the biggest we’ve seen all season. Still, with the way North Carolina is playing, are you doubting them? The Tar Heels enter this one winner’s of eight of their last 10, and have been a favorite of bettors, going 7-0 against the spread in their last seven.
And really, it all starts at point guard, where Kendall Marshall has emerged as not only an adequate player, but a burgeoning superstar. After biding his time behind Larry Drew II (who has since transferred), Marshall has stepped into the starting role, and become one of the Tar Heels most lethal weapons.
He has 25 assists in his last three games, and added a career-high 18 points in Saturday’s win over Clemson.
Still, to talk only about Marshall would be to undermine everything that’s happening in the post, where Carolina has two superstars as well.
Those two would be junior Tyler Zeller and sophomore John Henson, a pair who are as good as any duo in America. Zeller is the Heels high scorer in the paint, with over 14 points a game, while Henson is more the defensive stopper with close to nine boards and three blocks a game.
So with the College Basketball Spread Betting line so high, does Wake Forest stand a chance here? Honestly we just can’t see it.
The Demon Deacons are as bad as bad can get, currently sitting at just 8-17 and 1-9 in ACC. Forward Travis McKie is productive in the post (12.5 points and seven rebounds per game), but other than that, Wake Forest just doesn’t really have a ton of players suited to produce in such a competitive conference.
Aside from losing nine of their last 10 straight up, Wake Forest is also just 2-8 against the spread in that stretch too. Ouch!
North Carolina has a whole lot of talent, is playing as well as anyone nationally, and entering a game in which they’ll face their worst opponent for the rest of the season. We can’t think of one reason to wager against the Tar Heels in the College Basketball Spread Betting. Can you?
College Basketball Spread Betting Pick: North Carolina -22 ½
