February 19, 2011
What better way to spend your Saturday afternoon than by placing some wagers on the College Basketball Betting? With Missouri traveling to one of the toughest road environments anywhere in the country, don’t be surprised if the No. 21 team in the country gets upset.
No. 21 Missouri Tigers (20-6 SU, 10-11 ATS) at Iowa State Cyclones (14-12 SU, 12-10 ATS)

That road venue is Hilton Coliseum on the campus of Iowa State University, a place where the Cyclones are pretty tough to beat. They enter this game 11-5 at home, with wins over Baylor, Virginia and Iowa amongst others.
Still, it’s impossible to deny that the Cyclones are struggling, as they’ve now lost eight in a row, and gone just 2-6 against the spread over that stretch too. The reason is simple, Iowa State just doesn’t have enough talent to keep up in the Big XII. Guard Diante Garrett leads this team with over 17 points per game, but gets little help from the rest of his teammates.
As for Missouri, well, talent isn’t the problem, as this is one of the deepest squads in the country. But before you make the Tigers your College Basketball Spread Betting lock of the weekend, remember, this is not a team that plays well away from Missouri. Of their six losses, five have been on the road. The Tigers still have yet to win a road game in conference.
Just don’t blame that fact on the Tigers offense, as this is one of the deepest and most skilled teams in college basketball. Missouri ranks No. 4 in the country in scoring, averaging just under 84 points per game, and is coming off a solid 92 point effort Tuesday night against Texas Tech. The Tigers have any number of players who can beat you offensively, including guard Marcus Denmon, who averages over 16 points a game, and big Ricardo Ratliffe who averages 11.5 per.
But when it comes to Saturday’s College Basketball Spread Betting, do you really trust the Tigers on the road here? We don’t.
Now understand, we’re not saying that Missouri will lose straight up, because they almost certainly will not. But covering the betting odds is a different story. Again, this is a team that has yet to win a road game in conference all season.
Also, for all of Iowa State’s inefficiencies in stopping the ball (201st nationally in points allowed), they can score, putting up over 75 points a game (40th nationally). The Cyclones might not win this game, but they are going to play the Tigers tough. Especially at home.
While Missouri may come into this one as the ranked team with 20 wins under their belt, we don’t see they’ve yet to prove that they can sustain that success on the road.
Because of it, go ahead and make Iowa State your College Basketball Spread Betting pick on Saturday afternoon!
