College Basketball Sportsbook – #19 Florida, #14 Wisconsin, #22 Texas A&M.

February 9, 2011

#19 Florida, from the SEC, #14 Wisconsin, from the Big Ten, and #22 Texas A&M are all in action on Wednesday, February 9th, as likely road favorites in the online sportsbook

The Gators take on South Carolina while Wisconsin battles Iowa.  Texas A&M hits the hardwood versus Colorado in what should be a much tougher game than a lot of the Aggies’ fans realize.

Feb. 9th– NCAA BB Games

#19 Florida Gators (18-5) at South Carolina Gamecocks (13-8)

Where:  The Colonial Center Arena, Columbia, South Carolina

When: 8:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds:  Florida -8 ½

Analysis:  Florida has won 3 out of their last 4 versus the basketball moneyline odds including beating Vanderbilt 65 to 61 in overtime and Kentucky 70 to 68 as a 1 point home dog in their last.  The Gators travel to South Carolina for this contest, however, and the Gamecocks are no pushovers.  In fact, Florida is 0-5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two.  I still can’t back the Gamecocks up to 8 ½ points, though.  South Carolina has lost their last 2 home games to Kentucky, 58 to 67, and then to Auburn, 64 to 79.  SC was a -13 ½ point fave versus the lowly Tigers in the Auburn loss.  Florida should do enough to cover the spread in this game.

#14 Wisconsin Badgers (17-5) at Iowa Hawkeyes (10-13)

Where:  Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Iowa City, Iowa

When:  8:35 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds:  Wisconsin -8 ½

Analysis:  In the past, this used to be one heck of a Big Ten matchup.  Basketball betting handicappers more often than not would have trouble figuring out which team to back when Wisconsin took on Iowa.  Not any more.  The Badgers beat the Hawkeyes 67 to 40 in 2010 and have won 5 out of their last 6 games including absolutely murdering Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans 82 to 56 in their last.  Iowa has won 2 games in a row, beating Michigan State by 20 (what’s going on in Sparty Town?) and then taking down Indiana by a single point, 64 to 63, in their last. Wisconsin is much better than either one of those squads and the Badgers should rout Iowa on Wednesday night.

#22 Texas A&M Aggies (17-5) at Colorado Buffaloes (15-9)

Where:  Coors Events Center, Boulder, Colorado

When:  9:00 pm EST

Fair Basketball Odds:  Colorado -3 ½

Analysis:   I don’t believe that Texas A&M will be the favorites in the sports betting book on Wednesday night when they travel to Boulder to take on the Buffaloes.  Colorado is 6 and 1 against the spread in their home games this season.  They’ve gone 4 and 1 ATS in their last 4 games and take on a Texas A&M squad that has gone 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 and has lost 3 games in a row to Nebraska, Texas and Baylor.  A&M is falling apart while Colorado is rising.  I’ll back the rising team in this matchup on Feb. 9th.
