The Spartans have to at least take some sort of motivation from watching the Kansas State Wildcats beat the Kansas Jayhawks on Monday night. KSU, just like Michigan State, is a team that is definitely down this year and was in need of a huge victory to really feel good about its chances of getting into the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans are now taking on the team that was ranked No. 1 in the land until this week, and not many are giving them a chance… but then again, not many were making college basketball predictions on the Wildcats either.

Some sort of leadership really needs to arise for a team that is just 1-6 on the road this year, and Kalin Lucas and Draymond Green are the two most likely candidates. These two have come up huge for Head Coach Tom Izzo and company quite a bit over the years, and they are going to be needed in a huge way to survive this battle and to have any chance of making the Spartans great college basketball predictions.

Green is coming off of a triple-double performance against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the best game that Sparty has played in weeks. He had 15 points, 10 assists, and 14 boards in the ‘W’. Lucas chipped in with 24 points, while Delvon Roe and Durrell Summers combined for 23 points.

Ohio State has tasted defeat for the first time, losing to the Wisconsin Badgers on the road 71-67 on Saturday. However, it really wasn’t that much of a shock because few really believed that the Buckeyes were the best team in the land, much less justified as the last undefeated team that the game had to offer. Many were making college basketball predictions on the Badgers over the weekend.

What really needs to change in this one is how much David Lighty and Jon Diebler touch the ball. We know that this is an offense that revolves around Jared Sullinger, but Lighty and Diebler only combined to go 4-for-9 from the field against Wiscy, and they just need more attempts at the hoop than that for Head Coach Thad Motta and company to succeed.

Still, this is about payback for the Buckeyes. OSU has dominated this series as well, even posting some wins in East Lansing in recent years. MSU is just 2-6 ATS over the course of the last eight meetings. It’s definitely a good time to make college basketball predictions on Ohio State.
