College Basketball Odds – Arizona Looks To Silence Washington For Good
February 19, 2011
The Washington Huskies started this season as a very strong team in the Pac-10 and looked almost unstoppable as they began thrashing opponents and the college basketball odds. More recently, however, things have started to level off in the conference and the Huskies are struggling to find their footing. It might be especially difficult when they visit the best team in the Pac-10 right now.
While nobody would be quick to suggest that the Pac-10 is a powerhouse in college basketball, they’re certainly a conference that’s produced some name programs that have always stood as contenders to a certain degree in March Madness.

Right now, however, only the No.12 Arizona Wildcats are ranked in the Pac-10. The UCLA Bruins are right behind them with a 10-3 conference record, while Washington sits in third.
The Huskies would love nothing more than to get back in the race, but they’ve been struggling mightily against the college basketball odds. Washington is a stiff 6-3 SU in their last 9 games, but they’re also a woeful 3-6 ATS during those games as well. Beating the college basketball odds used to be their strength earlier in the season. Now it’s hardly ever happening.
Washington Huskies (18-7) vs. #12 Arizona Wildcats (22-4)
Saturday, February 19th — McKale Center — 6:00pm EST
College Basketball Odds & Betting Trends:
• Washington is 2-4 SU in last 6 road games
• Washington is 1-4 ATS in last 5 games against Arizona
• Arizona is 5-0 SU in last 5 games at home
• Arizona is 8-4 ATS in last 12 home games
Washington was especially difficult to get a read on because of star player Isaiah Thomas, who his averaging 16.8 points per game this season. The diminutive 5-foot-9 guard was torching the league earlier this season, and still busts a 20-point performance here and there, but only Matthew Bryan-Amaning is providing suitable support. The 6-foot-9 power forward is helping with 16.0 points of his own.
Making life pain staking for Washington’s backers is that they should be well aware of the Huskies’ inefficiencies in Arizona. They’re just 1-4 SU and ATS in their last 5 games in Arizona, and the Wildcats have gone a respectable 8-4 ATS in 12 home games this season.
Arizona has also dominated the college basketball odds in this series by splitting games 5-5 SU and going 7-3 ATS when playing Washington. That’s partly why Arizona is a no brainer in this particular game, especially with Washington lacking any lethal momentum. The Wildcats are the cream of the Pac-10 crop, and Washington is just a pretender at this point.
