Clemens Breaks Media Silence – Still a Huge Liar

May 12, 2009

Look who’s broken his media silence in lieu of another book scheduled for release that accuses him of taking steroids. Yes, Roger Clemens is back and he’s as thick headed as ever in his interview on ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning.

The former Yankees pitcher, among many other teams, today again strongly denied ever using performance-enhancing drugs. He did confirm that he’s a patron saint through his work attending charity events and speaking to whomever will listen to him about the negative effect of steroids and how they affect your body. He also did a great job of deflecting tough questions such as “do you think guys who’ve admitted to using steroids should be allowed in the hall of fame” which he would not comment on.

In the interview, he goes so far to say that it would be "suicidal" for him to take steroids based on his family’s medical history, "Let me just add to it, common sense. Our family has a history of heart conditions," Clemens said. "My brother had a heart attack in his late 40s. My stepdad died of a heart attack. I mean, it would be suicidal to even think about taking any of these dangerous drugs."

When asked to comment about information stating that Brian McNamee has handed over physical evidence (needles) that contain Clemens’ DNA evidence of his steroid use his reply was "It’s impossible because he’s never given me any".

Clemons confirmed he had given DNA samples to investigators but had not been summoned to a grand jury on the basis that he committed perjury in front of Congress by denying he ever used performance enhancing substances.

So, in his first public statements on the matter of his drug use since testifying in front of Congress in February 2008, Clemens basically stuck to his guns and used the interview to make himself sound like a victim of false media and that he’s turned his life into becoming a role model for young athletes. Yikes.
