After Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin stole the show in Saturday’s Slam Dunk contest, it’s back to reality Tuesday, as he and his teammates travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder.
The Thunder enter this one as one of the better NBA Betting picks of the last few weeks, as they’ve gone 7-3 straight up in their last 10. They’re led by forward Kevin Durant, the NBA’s leader in scoring (averaging a cool 28.9 points per game), as well as guard Russell Westbrook. Westbrook is coming off his first All-Star appearance this past weekend, and has emerged as one of the top point guards in the league. The third year player is averaging 22 points and over eight assists per game.
And honestly, with the Thunder hosting a Clippers team which has been terrible of late, we see no reason not to make Oklahoma City one of your Monday night NBA Betting picks.
While Griffin has been exciting this year, his Los Angeles teammates have hardly matched his output, as the Clippers were just 3-7 straight up in their last 10 games before the All-Star break, and just 4-6 against the spread over that stretch too. It’s also important to note that this is one of the league’s worst road teams, as they’re just 5-21 away from the Staples Center.
The NBA Betting pick is clear here, don’t you think?
NBA Betting Pick: Oklahoma City -9
Boston Celtics (40-14 SU, 26-26-2 ATS) at Golden State Warriors (26-29 SU, 25-29-1 ATS)
Tuesday, February 22: 10:30 p.m. Live from Oracle Arena, Oakland, CA
Betting Odds:
Boston: -4 ½
Golden State: +4 ½
Total: 198 ½
Next up, we travel to Oakland, where East meets West in a battle of the Celtics and Warriors.
For Golden State, we all know their story, as this group is once again all about offense, and seems to be utterly disinterested in playing defense. They rank in the Top 10 in scoring, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage, yet rank in the bottom five in the NBA in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense. Monta Ellis is once again one of the best players in the league that no one is talking about, with a 25.3 point a game average.
But again folks, these are the Boston Celtics coming to town. Don’t you think the Celtics are going to dictate tempo and control this game?
Look, we all know about Boston’s veteran savvy, and it shows, especially on the defensive end. The Celtics rank No. 1 in scoring defense, and are also No. 3 in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 43 percent from the field. Simply put, there is no way that the Warriors will be matching their season average of 102.9 points per game.
Don’t let the small point spread fool you. The Celtics are the better team here, and even on the road, will cruise to an NBA Betting victory.
NBA Betting Pick: Boston -4 ½
