CFL Football Odds – Best in the West Meet Friday

September 17, 2010

The best team in the CFL, the Calgary Stampeders travel East this week to face the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and surprisingly, the CFL Football betting lines only have them as three point favorites.

Calgary is coming off a win while the Riders are coming off a horrendous loss.

CALGARY STAMPEDERS (9-1) vs. SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS (6-4)

Regina, Saskatchewan

Broadcast: TSN

CFL Football Odds:

Calgary: -3 (-110)

Saskatchewan: +3 (-110)

Total: 55 ½ points: Over (110), Under (110)

It is not fluke that the Calgary Stampeders sit atop the CFL standings and it is no surprise that the CFL Football odds currently have them favored going into Friday’s showdown. They have won seven straight games in convincing style and they appear to be having fun on the field.

Quarterback Henry Burris can take the majority of the credit for the Stamps’ solid play but some of the credit has to go to Offensive Coordinator, Dave Dickenson whose game plans have kept CFL defenses guessing all season long. Burris ranks third in the CFL in passing with 2856 yards but he has proven that he can also beat you with his feet as last week’s two rush, 28 yard, two touchdown performance demonstrates.

Burris’ supporting cast has been equally impressive so far this season. Ken Yon Rambo and Nik Lewis are in the Top 5 in the CFL in receiving and running back Joffrey Reynolds is third in the CFL in yards from scrimmage and second in rushing with 851 yards.

The Stampeders have the best yards per game average in the CFL with 445 and the best points per game average with just over 35. They are 6-0 ATS when scoring 28 points or more and CFL Football odds are that they will eclipse that against Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan is the definition of inconsistent. They have alternated wins and losses through their last ten games – if the pattern holds true, they should be in line for a win this week. Offensively, they were bad last week against Winnipeg and defensively, they had a difficult time stopping the run.

Darian Durant continues to lead the CFL in passing despite a poor 19 for 35, 168 yard, one interception afternoon last week. He will need to bounce back as will running back Wes Cates who rumbled for a measly 18 yards last week!

CFL Football Odds Outlook:

Calgary is on fire – on the road or at home, they appear to be money in the bank. Saskatchewan, after starting 3-0 has not looked great in any aspect of the game. Calgary -3 is a gift to bettors. Jump on it now before the line creeps higher.

CFL Football Odds Pick: Calgary Stampeders -3
