The Saskatchewan Roughriders have CFL Football Betting revenge on their mind. Last year, they were a penalty with no time remaining on the clock away from claiming the 97th Grey Cup. A missed field goal by Montreal’s David Duval appeared to have given the Riders the win. However, Duval got a do-over when Saskatchewan was flagged for too many men. 10 yards closer, Duval hit the game winning kick and gave the Alouettes a 28-27 victory.

Saskatchewan has had revenge on their minds since the minute that game was over and now they get to try again to defeat the Beasts from the East. The Roughriders defeated the BC Lions in a dramatic overtime game in the Western Conference semi-final and then beat the hometown Calgary Stampeders 20-16 in the bitter cold in the Western Final.

Saskatchewan boasts the best passer in the CFL, two 1000 yard receivers and a running back that scored an incredible 15 touchdowns during the regular season. On offense, Darian Durant, Andy Fantuz, Weston Dressler and Wes Cates are a handful and were all a part of the team that lost the heartbreaking final last year.

Defensively, the Riders have been middle of the road all season long. They may be aided by the elements on Sunday – the bitter cold in Edmonton may slow down the Alouettes just as much as the Saskatchewan defense.

The Montreal Alouettes return to the Grey Cup for the third straight year and the eighth time in 11 years. It is no surprise that they are CFL Football Betting favorites again this season. The Alouettes boast the best quarterback the league has ever seen, they have a strong ad deep receiving corp. and they have a running back that appears to be hitting his stride at precisely the right time.

Anthony Calvillo, despite missing a few games this season finished strong and did enough to be one of the two finalists for the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player. He has owned the Riders in recent meetings – in his last two games, he has passed for 600 yards, six touchdowns and just one interception. Since 2008, Calvillo has thrown 17 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions against Saskatchewan. He has Ben Cahoon, Kerry Watkins and Jamel Richardson playing at a high level right now meaning that the Alouettes should be ready to play.

In the cold, running back Avon Cobourne will be a crucial part of the game plan. Last week, Cobourne ran for 163 yards and a touchdown last week while adding another 53 yards receiving.

CFL Football Betting Outlook:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 12-8 SU this season and are 10-10 ATS. They are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against the Alouettes and are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games against winning teams.

The Montreal Alouettes are 13-6 SU this season and 9-10 ATS. They are 5-1 SU in their last six games against Saskatchewan and are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 November games.

The season series finished 1-1 with each team winning in very close fashion. The Riders played poorly down the stretch but appear to be peaking heading into Sunday’s game. Saskatchewan definitely has motivation on their side as well as the fact that they have already played a game in the frigid Alberta elements. No team has repeated as Grey Cup Champions in the last 15 years and I don’t think that the Alouettes will. I like the minor upset in this one.
