Baltimore went 9-7 SU and 8-7-1 ATS in 2009 to finish in second place in the AFC North while reaching the AFC playoffs as a wild card where they promptly pounded the Patriots into submission before bowing out to the Colts in their divisional showdown. The Ravens played Under the NFL O/U Betting line Totals nine times a year ago while going 6-9-1 O/U.

New York compiled 9-7 SU record last season while posting an identical 9-7 mark against their NFL betting odds. The Jets beat Cincinnati and San Diego in the playoffs to reach the AFC title game where they fell to the Indianapolis Colts 30-17. New York went 7-8-1 against their O/U betting line totals and had one of the best defenses in all of football last season.

Key Head-to-Head Trends

  • Baltimore is 5-0 SU in its last five games against the Jets.
  • Baltimore is 4-1 ATS in its last five games against New York.

Baltimore 411

  • Ravens are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in September.
  • Ravens are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games.
  • Ravens are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. AFC.

The Ravens went 3-1 SU and ATS in the preseason while going 1-3 against their football odds totals. Third-year quarterback Joe Flacco completed 61.3 percent of his passes while throwing three touchdown passes and just one interception.

New York 411

  • Jets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in September.
  • Jets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. AFC.
  • Jets are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 1.

The Jets alternated wins and losses in the preseason, while compiling a mediocre 2-2 SU and ATS mark in the preseason. New York went 2-2 against the NFL betting line totals odds as starting quarterback Mark Sanchez completed 64.6 percent of his passes while throwing two TD passes and two interceptions.

Expert NFL Picks: With both of these teams having outstanding defenses, I believe the outcome of this contest will come down to whichever team makes the fewest mistakes on offense – and which quarterback committs the fewest turnovers.

While I really like Jet’s young aignal caller Mark Sanchez, I have to admit that I wasn;t very impressed by what I saw of him in the preseason and I believe Baltimore’s Joe Flacco is the far better quarterback at this point, not to mention more experienced with one more season in the league under his belt.

With what should be a far more explosive offense, thanks to the additions of veteran wideouts, Anquan Boldin, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the currently injured Donte Stallworth.

Baltimore also has one of the very best running backs in the game in gifted dual-threat halfback Ray Rice and I believe they will find a way to pull off the upset with the outright road win.

Ultimately, I think Mark Sanchez will struggle much more in this contest than Joe Flacco will – and in the end – I believe that will be the difference in this contest. The Jets have struggled in going just 2-4 ATS in its last six home games.

As far as the Over/Under Total is concerned, I like this contest to play just Under the 35.5-point NFL Betting Line.

The Under has played out in five of Baltimore’s last seven road games while going 7-2- 1 in the Ravens’ last 10 games against AFC opponents.

NFL Expert Picks: Baltimore Ravens + 2.5 Points/Under 35.5 Total Points
