Can Ole Miss Regroup as 21 Point College Football Game Lines Favorites
September 11, 2010
Without a doubt the biggest shocker last weekend occurred when the Mississippi Rebels blew a 31 to 13 lead in the 4th quarter and lost to Jacksonville State 49 to 48. Ole Miss was a 29-point college football game lines favorite to beat Jacksonville State.
It just goes to show you that college football is an ever changing, difficult sport to handicap. Even with the loss, the odds makers haven’t shied away from making Ole Miss a big favorite in games. The Rebels are over a 20-point favorite versus Tulane this week.

Can Ole Miss bounce back? Or, has the Jacksonville State lost taken too much out of them?

NCAAF Betting Lines
Mississippi Rebels -21 ½ -110
Tulane Green Wave +21 ½ -110
The betting trends say that the Rebels bounce back.
- The Mississippi Rebels are 8 and 0 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games.
- The Mississippi Rebels are 10 and 2 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss.
- The Tulane Green Wave is 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 games in September.
- The Tulane Green Wave is 2 and 7 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
Can you imagine the conversations that coach Houston Nutt has been having with the Ole Miss Rebel starters? I mean, come on, people! Jacksonville State?
With that being written, the odds makers absolutely have the odds correct on the college football game lines for this one. Mississippi was awesome against Jacksonville State last Saturday until that 4th quarter. Ole Miss ended the game with 479 total yards. 242 yards through the air and 237 on the ground shows that the Rebels had balance on offense.
It was their defense that suffered. Oh, and the 3 turnovers didn’t help. On the bright side, Houston Nutt’s team didn’t commit a single penalty. How the heck then did they lose to Jacksonville State? Who knows? I’m not going to begin to explain it.
Tulane is 1 and 0 on the season after beating Southeastern Louisiana last week 27 to 21. There was no betting line offered on that game. That’s a good thing because the Lions, that’s Southeastern Louisiana, almost embarrassed the Green Wave. The Green Wave could muster only 255 yards against the Lions last Thursday night. They’ll be lucky to get 200 against Ole Miss on Saturday.
I just don’t see how Ole Miss doesn’t cover the college football games line spread in this contest. The Rebels had the victory against Jacksonville State. They blew it. They won’t blow it again and, yes, I’m about to write this Tulane might be a worse team than Jacksonville State.
The Green Wave needed 4 turnovers in order to beat the Lions by 6 points. They’ve got no shot against a fired up Ole Miss team that will be out to lay down some punishment against somebody after being embarrassed last weekend.
Ole Miss is the pick.
