BYU Cougars vs. Florida Gators
Game Date/Time: Thursday, March 24th, 7:20 ET
Game Location: New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, LA
TV/Radio Broadcast: TBS, Sirius
NCAA Basketball Odds
BYU Cougars (+3) -110
Florida Gators (-3) -110
Over/Under 149.5
Everyone is just assuming that the Gators are going to get their revenge in March Madness betting action this week, as they were bounced from the NCAA Tournament by Jimmer Fredette and these Cougars last season in the first round. Both teams largely have their exact same cores back, which makes this is a legitimate rematch between two teams that really shouldn’t like each other all that much.
Chandler Parsons has really stepped up this season, and he has become a legitimate superstar in Head Coach Billy Donovan’s system as a point forward. He can shoot, he can drive, he can pass, he can rebound, and he can defend. However, he’s not Jimmer. Fredette can just shoot, shoot, and shoot some more, and though he does have a relatively humane shooting percentage in this tournament, it feels as though every time he steps back to shoot, it’s nothing but net.
If Fredette gets his groove on, BYU is just unstoppable. Sure, Donovan and his staff are going to be spending the rest of this week doing nothing but trying to slow down Jimmer Mania, but it just isn’t going to work. Fredette and the crew march on to the Elite 8 for the first times since 1981!
SLAM THE COUGARS!
Butler Bulldogs vs. Wisconsin Badgers
Game Date/Time: Thursday, March 24th, 9:50 ET
Game Location: New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, LA
TV/Radio Broadcast: TBS, Sirius
NCAA Basketball Odds
Butler Bulldogs (+5) -110
Wisconsin Badgers (-5) -110
Over/Under 124
The slipper for Cinderella is about to fall off, because the Badgers are the big, bad bully and are going to crush that slipper before Butler has to chance to put it back on.
The Bulldogs did a great job of taking down a very similar Pittsburgh Panthers team, but it just doesn’t feel like they can do it for the second game in a row, even though they’re going to have the whole Crescent City on their side.
Wisconsin has figured out how to get that mojo going again on both sides of the ball, and Jordan Taylor and Jon Leuer were good enough to counter a fantastic game by Kansas State’s Jacob Pullen last week. Butler just doesn’t have the stars to be able to shoot around this defense. If Gordon Hayward was still on this team, Butler would have a shot at not only covering but winning outright. He’s not however, and the chore will prove to be too much in this Sweet 16 March Madness betting tilt.
SLAM THE BADGERS!
