Buffalo vs Miami – Sports Betting
December 17, 2010
Lost in the AFC betting East drama between the New York Jets and the New England Patriots are the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills. The Bills and Dolphins are having two good seasons for very different reasons.
The Dolphins had a collapse on the offense but their ferocious defense has pushed them to a 7-6 record. The Bills are just 3-10 on the season but they have been sports betting gold for the past 8 weeks. These two teams hook up Sunday at Dolphins Stadium in Miami.

The Bills won six games last season and were expected to at least reach that level this season but with three games left, they’ll need to win out to win six games this season.
The Bills started the season with 8 straight losses. Their run defense was horrible and it was the culprit for almost all of their losses. During their week six bye, Coach Chan Gailey did an overhaul on the defense. The team switched from the 3-4 they implemented in the off-season and back to the 4-3 they employed in 2009.
The change hand an immediate effect, they still lost three games coming out of the bye but each game was by a field goal. Since the bye week, the Bills have gone 6-1-1 in their past eight games against the sports betting spread. They’re still losing more than they win but they are keeping it competitive and if they have a good draft, the Bills could be an 8-8 team next season.
The Miami Dolphins are in third place in the AFC East right where most prognosticators expected them to be but the team is a game above .500. Miami has the Bills, Lions and Patriots still on the schedule, winning two of three to finish 9-7 isn’t out of the question.
The Dolphins offense has struggled this season. It turns out Chad Henne isn’t the answer under centre, he’s been benched, injured and inconsistent all season. Henne’s inability to give a strong performance on Sunday’s has allowed opposing defenses to stuff the box and take away the Dolphins top offensive threats, Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
As bad as the Dolphins offense has been, the Miami defense has played like rabid animals. They are holding opponents to an 8th best 18.8 points a game. Opponents have only scored 21 points four times in 13 games.
The Dolphins spark plug, catalyst or perhaps, defensive player of the year is linebacker Cam Wake. Wake is in his second year removed from the CFL’s British Columbia Lions. He leads the NFL with 14 sacks and countless quarterback hurries. His speed and agility allows him to get into the backfield causing quarterbacks heart palpitations.
Think about this, Wake was a Mortgage Broker in 2006 before returning to football in Canada where he won consecutive Defensive Player of the year awards.
I don’t think the Dolphins have the offense to run up the score on the Bills and the Bills offense is in trouble against the Dolphins. This should be a low scoring game so bet under the sports betting total of 40½ points.
NFL Betting Pick: Miami Dolphins/Buffalo Bills under 40½
