Broncos Need to Part Ways with Head Case Brandon Marshall
August 27, 2009
Move over T.O. and take a back seat Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones. Denver Broncos (8-8 SU, 4-11-1 ATS, 8-7-1 O/U) wide receiver Brandon Marshall is making a march to the top of the league’s current ‘head case’ list with some recent irrational talk that is sure to make some of the league’s all-time great head cases proud.
Now heading into his fourth year in the league, all with Denver, the trouble-making wide receiver is up to his old tricks again. This time, he has informed the Broncos of his strong desire to be traded if the team doesn’t extend and improve his current contract which call for the gifted wideout to make $2.2 million this season.

While there is no doubting the fact that Marshall, a Pro Bowler in 2008, is a gifted receiver – and one that has caught a whopping 206 passes over the past two seasons – his numerous off-field distractions and legal problems have the Broncos at their collective wit’s end – and a host of other teams wary at best.
"With all the off-the-field problems and everything being so public, I have put myself in a tough position," Marshall told reporters recently.
To me, it just sounds like Marshall wants out of Denver.
"I’ve done some great things on the field," Marshall said recently. "I’m not saying I’m a finished product, but I definitely think I can play on anybody’s team and contribute in a major way.
Now, the Broncos are almost literally between a rock and a hard place. The franchise has a rookie head coach in Josh McDaniels after firing longtime leader Mike Shanahan following last season’s uninspiring 8-8 finish and also parted ways with strong-armed quarterback Jay Cutler after a nasty public flap this summer with McDaniels.
Whether Marshall ends up getting traded or not, BetOnline NFL betting sharps need to keep an eye on the Broncos this season as they could take a step backwards in McDaniels first season, which has already gotten off to a rocky start.
