Brew Crew take on the Fish – Milwaukee vs. Florida

June 4, 2009

The Milwaukee Brewers, ranked in the top five in the MLB Power Rankings travel to Florida to battle it out against the Marlins. The Brewers have been terrific this year despite the loss of top pitcher C.C. Sabbathia to the New York Yankees during the off season. Milwaukee will send pitcher Dave Bush to the mound. Bush has been fantastic this season, compiling a record of 3 and 1 with an ERA of 4.38 and an unbelievable WHIP of 1.19.

The Florida Marlins counter Bush with pitcher Josh Johnson. Johnson has been even better than Bush. His record is 4 and 1 on the season. His ERA is 2.66 and his WHIP is 1.09.

Here is the BetOnline online sportsbook betting line for this game.

Milwaukee Brewers

Dave Bush – R +1 ½ -155 +135 O 8 -115 O/U 3 ½ -115

Florida Marlins

Josh Johnson – R -1 ½ +135 -155 U 8 -105 O/U 4 -130/Ev

Here are a few online wagering trends for this game.

The Milwaukee Brewers are 7 and 1 in Dave Bush’s last 8 starts.

The Milwaukee Brewers are 1 and 5 in Dave Bush’s last 6 starts as an underdog.

The Florida Marlins are 9 and 2 in Josh Johnson’s last 11 starts as the favorite.

The Florida Marlins are 2 and 9 in their last 11 games versus a right handed starter.

This figures to be one of those super tough games between two terrific pitchers. Why bother with trying to figure out which pitcher does the job in this game?

The best thing for gamblers to do is to assume that both guys, with those terrific WHIPs, do their job and that this game goes under the total of 8 runs.

I see Johnson pitching fantastic until at least the 6th inning. I see Bush doing the same. With the score around 2 to 2 going into the 7th, or maybe even the 8th inning, this game should go under.

I’ll be hoping for a pitcher’s duel in Florida tonight as the wager that I am going to make in the sportsbook is that this game goes under the BetOnline Total of 8 runs.
