Blake Leads NBA Odds Dog Clipps into Staples to Take on Kobe and Lakers
February 26, 2011
It’s the battle of L.A. on Friday, February 25th, when Blake Griffin of the L.A. Clippers leads his squad into the Staples Center to take on the rival Los Angeles Lakers as a big underdog in the NBA sportsbook.
Griffin wowed NBA betting fans during All-Star Weekend with his thunderous dunks and terrific play, but on Friday night, his Clippers take on the most successful franchise in NBA history. Can Griff get the Clipps to play hard against the Lakers again? Or, will Kobe and Pau put the youngster in his place?

The key for the Clippers is how effective guard Mo Williams is going to be on Friday night. Mo comes over to LAC for Baron Davis. Although Davis was a good scorer at times, Williams has a much better grasp of the fundamentals of basketball. He could be worth a point or even a point and a half in the basketball odds sportsbook on Friday night.
He’s going to have to play, of course. Williams is questionable on Friday because of an injured ankle. One player that the Clippers did pick up on Thursday that will play on Friday is forward Jamario Moon. Moon is by no means an All-Star in waiting, but he can put up close to 10 points a game at times meaning that the Lakers are going to have to take a double-take when guarding Blake Griffin.
Griff eats up the Lakers as it is anyhow. Blake only scored 18 points against the Lakers on January 16th, the last time the two teams played, but he pulled down 15 boards and the Clippers won 99 to 92. Griffin is the single reason that LAC will probably be a +8 ½ points or less dog versus the Lake Show on Friday night.
But are the Lakers, who have won 2 games in a row straight up and might be ready to hit their stride, the better team to back against the basketball odds in the sportsbook? I don’t think so. The Lakers have done this before. They are the most inconsistent team in the NBA right now because one night they upset a team they shouldn’t, like beating Boston straight up in Boston, and then the next couple of nights they lose on the moneyline to Charlotte and Cleveland back to back.
The Lakers are too sketchy of a team to back when it comes to betting, in my mind. I’ll ride Blake, his new buddy Jamario, and the rest of the young and hungry Clippers to a score against the spread on Friday night.
