Black Eyed Peas and Tim McGraw will play NFL Season Opener
August 12, 2009
This just in! The Black Eyed Peas are gonna get that… gonna get that… NFL Opener gig. They have signed on to play the season opener between the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers and the 2008 surprise team of the year, Tennessee Titans on Thursday, September 10th. Let’s all ‘get retarded’ as we tune in to watch.
Oh, and on a side note, Tim McGraw will also be joining in on this concert. The three-time Grammy winning bands will hold a free concert that is open to the public at Point State Park. Lets all hope his gorgeous wife Faith Hill is somewhere in the mix because what goes better with opening night football than gorgeous blondes?
This year’s lineup should be a great start to the football season much like last year’s lineup was in New York, which included Natasha Bedingfield, Keith Urban and Usher.
Let’s not forget that there is also a football game to play that night, and a good one at that. Last year, the Tennessee Titans came out of nowhere, and from what looked like a disastrous situation when Vince Young went off the deep end, to finish at 13-3 and won the AFC South Division crown. They were also the only team to gain over 300 yards against Pittsburgh in 2008, a 31-14 blowout in the second to last game of the year.
There isn’t much to say about the Steelers other than they won the Super Bowl, becoming the winningest franchise in NFL history in doing so. This is going to be a fantastic match up to kick off the 2009-10 NFL season and with the musical styling of the Black Eyed Peas and Tim McGraw to get everyone jacked up, September 10th cant come soon enough!!!
For all you football fans here are some further notes on the last time these teams faced each other in the regular season:
- Justin Gage’s touchdown was the first touchdown allowed by the Steelers defense in 101 plays
- In the third quarter, Steelers Linebacker James Harrison recorded his 16th sack of the season, which made it a new franchise record
- QB Roethlisberger had thrown a career-high of 131 passes without an interception until Griffin intercepted a pass in the third quarter
