Big XII Power Poll – Nebraska and Missouri set for Showdown

October 5, 2009

The 2009 college football betting season continues with its sixth week of play this week. Check out how BetOnline stacks up this power conference heading into the halfway point of the ’09 season…

1: Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-0 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 1) On this coming Thursday night, ESPN gets to broadcast a doozy of a game when the Huskers put their undefeated ATS record on the line against one of the few undefeated teams left in the Big XII. The Black Shirts are going to have to step it up big time to handle HC Gary Pinkel’s electric offense.

Up Next: Away @ Missouri (-3)

2: Missouri Tigers (3-1 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 2) Much like Nebraska, the Tigers took the week off to prepare for their biggest game of the season. QB Blaine Gabbert is proving that he can step in and replace QB Chase Daniel without the offense skipping a beat. He has already thrown for 1,161 yards and has Mizzou sitting at 4-0 with a chance to make a big statement against the Huskers.

Up Next: Home vs. Nebraska (+3)

3: Kansas Jayhawks (2-1 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 3) The red hot Kansas offense took a week off last week. The squad ranks sixth in the country in both totals yards (510.0 per game) and points (40.5 per game). This week could be a shootout against a team that loves to try to force the tempo and get the ball up the field in a hurry.

Up Next: Home vs. Iowa State (-19)

4: Colorado Buffaloes (2-1 ATS, 1-3 SU (LW: 9) Thanks to the carnage in the rest of the Big XII, the Buffaloes are the big ATS winners on the week. Still, there’s not much else to be proud of about losing 35-24 in Morgantown, especially considering the fact that RB Noel Devine ran wild on the Colorado ‘D’ to the tune of 220 yards on 20 carries. Just how many points can Texas and its potent offense throw on the board against the Buffs this week?

Up Next: Away @ Texas (+31.5)

5: Oklahoma Sooners (2-2 ATS, 2-2 SU) (LW: 4) If Oklahoma’s championship hopes weren’t already finished, they certainly are now. A loss in Miami effectively spelled the end of the 2009 season for the Sooners, but they can’t lose sight of the Big XII championship. They’ve still yet to play a conference game, and with the big showdown with Texas coming in two weeks, it’s important for QB Sam Bradford to get back in the saddle and get ready for a duel.

Up Next: Home vs. Baylor (-24)

6: Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-2 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 5) Hey HC Mike Leach… What are you doing running up the score against a hapless New Mexico squad with no time remaining? QB Taylor Potts was taken out of the game after suffering a ton of hard hits and throwing two interceptions. As a result, T-Tech had very little chance of covering the hefty spread.

Up Next: Home vs. Kansas State (-17)

And the rest…

7: Baylor Bears (2-2 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 6)

8: Texas A&M Aggies (2-2 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 7)

9: Iowa State Cyclones (2-2 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 8)

10: Kansas State Wildcats (2-2 ATS, 3-2 SU) (LW: 11)

11: Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-2 ATS, 3-1 SU) (LW: 10)

12: Texas Longhorns (1-3 ATS, 4-0 SU) (LW: 12)
