Big Ben Injured on Final Day of Training Camp
August 21, 2009
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has injured his right ankle. The severity of the injury is unknown. Some reports indicate that he tore his achilles tendon others report that he is fine and just had the back of his foot stepped on.
Roethlisberger had an ice pack on the back of the ankle when he was carted off at the end of Thursday’s practice on Pittsburgh’s final day of training camp.
Left tackle Max Starks couldn’t handle a rush from linebacker James Harrison, the 2008 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Starks went down on a knee and tripped Roethlisberger, who stayed on the turf for about five minutes. Roethlisberger spent the rest of practice sitting on a cooler, then he was carted off.

The fact that Roethlisberger stayed at the practice should indicate that the injury is not very serious.
The Steelers worked out on a turf field instead of grass because of rain earlier in the day.
