COLLEGE FOOTBALL BETTING – PRESEASON BIG XII POWER POLL
The scoreboard operators had a hard time keeping up with all of the points scored by teams in the Big XII last season. Check out how BetOnline Sportsbook stacks up the teams for sports betting fanatics heading into the ’09 campaign…

1: Oklahoma Sooners (10-3 ATS, 12-2 SU in 2008) The Sooners were probably every bit as good as any team in the nation last year, but they came up just short in the National Championship game against Florida. The country’s #1 offense averaged a ridiculous 51.1 points per game last year, and with Heisman Trophy winning QB Sam Bradford back to lead the offense, the points should be flying on the board yet again this year.
Up Next: Home vs. BYU
2: Baylor Bears (8-3 ATS, 4-8 SU in 2008) Baylor may not look like it belongs on this list amongst some truly fantastic teams, but the Bears were probably the best 4-8 team that you never heard about last season. QB Robert Griffin did just about everything the Bears could ask of him in his freshman campaign, as he threw for 2,091 yards and rushed for 843 more, while accounting for 28 total touchdowns against just three interceptions thrown. Don’t rest on this team in ‘09. Baylor has a schedule that is conducive to going bowling this season. A road win against the Demon Deacons would get the Bears off to a great start in ’09.
Up Next: Away @ Wake Forest
3: Texas Longhorns (9-4 ATS, 12-1 SU in 2008) Texas may have won the Red River Shootout over those Sooners, but a loss in Lubbock to Texas Tech ruined its title hopes. Much like Oklahoma, Texas returns its superstar, QB Colt McCoy. The Longhorns’ gunslinger lead Texas to Top-10 ranks in total yards per game (477.2, 9th), passing yards per game (308.3, 7th), and points per game (42.4, 5th). Still, Texas’ 2009 season will be gauged solely on that October 17th match-up with Bradford and the Sooners. As proven last year, the ‘Horns can’t afford a slip up anywhere else on the schedule.
Up Next: Home vs. Louisiana-Monroe
4: Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-4 ATS, 9-4 SU in 2008) As good as Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech were in ’08, the Cowboys were the lost team in the Big XII equation. QB Zac Robinson threw for 3,068 yards and led Okie State to 40.8 points per game; the ninth best mark in the land. The problem – that average was only fourth best in their own division. With a favorable schedule, the Cowboys may be able to slip under the radar and compete for the Big XII title this year. Watch out Texas and Oklahoma! #13 Georgia is on deck in what could be one of the best college football betting games of the weekend.
Up Next: Home vs. Georgia
5: Kansas Jayhawks (7-5 ATS, 8-5 SU in 2008) Kansas slipped under the radar as well last season. Don’t rest on the Jayhawks though, as QB Todd Reesing and WR Dez Briscoe may be the best QB/WR tandem in the country. The passing offense ranked eighth in the country last year with 305.5 yards per game, and Reesing should approach the 4,000-yard barrier once again in ‘09.
Up Next: Home vs. Northern Colorado
And the rest…
6: Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-6 ATS, 9-4 SU in 2008)
7: Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-5-1 ATS, 11-2 SU in 2008)
8: Iowa State Cyclones (5-6 ATS, 2-10 SU in 2008)
9: Missouri Tigers (5-8 ATS, 10-4 SU in 2008)
10: Colorado Buffaloes (4-7 ATS, 5-7 SU in 2008)
11: Kansas State Wildcats (4-7 ATS, 5-7 SU in 2008)
12: Texas A&M Aggies (4-8 ATS, 4-8 SU in 2008)
